And another director who picks great composers, either Cliff Martinez or David Holmes.
That is hilarious that I did that. I wrote this just after writing an email to someone in my improv troupe about a group out of LA that did an improvised musical in the style of Stephen Sondheim and I guess I just had Sondheim on the brain.
Boy do I look foolish now (Though perhaps Out of Sight would have been even more interesting were Sondheim involved).
I watched "Charade" a few nights ago. It was a fun little suspense movie with Adurey Hepburn, Cary Grant, Walter Matthau, and James Coburn. Lots of double-crosses, and people dying ugly deaths, plus one very irritated French police officer.
Watched Horrible Bosses. Not as good as I thought it would be. Which is a shame given that I like the actors in it and the plot was amusing. Just... not well executed. I think the fault was i the writing. The actors did okay with what they were given, just the writers made odd choices some times.
Saw 50/50 last night. A few good jokes and seemed like an honest portrayal of a really terrible experience. Tonally more of a downer than the trailer is trying to sell it... but that's advertising.

I watched a 1967 made Russian movie called Viy. It was the first horror movie made under communism, and is very reminiscent of the Hammer movies from the UK. All about a priest who has to spend three nights praying for the soul of a dead girl who was really a witch. Well worth a watch.
Last movie I saw was Drive. It was a grittier version of the Transporter. Similar in that he is a driver who does not get involved with any of the crimes he drives for. Different in that the over the top cartoon violence was replaced with short scenes of VERY intense violence. Albert Brooks steals the whole movie as a very good bad guy.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.
I watched In Harm's Way last night. It had a lot of good actors in it, but it was about an hour too long, and I think the director was trying too hard to drive his point about contradictions home.

I thought Drive was a great movie. I also liked the soundtrack. I loved that Ryan Goslings character was never given a name and was didn't talk much.
The last movie I just saw was Trollhunter. It wasn't bad. It made me want to watch Thor. If you watch it, you'll know what I mean.
