I live in a reality where the world has real problems. So something as trivial as 'sculpt re-use' bothers me about as much as having an order messed up at a mcdonalds. Actually, I think cold fries are much worse than 3 hulks that look the same. Very petty issues in the grand scheme of things. Whatever they can do to keep costs down for me as a consumer is great! Kudos to them for making the effort. For the most part, sculpt quality has been pretty great, so who cares about a repaint or small alteration.
I don't mean to come off as an @ss here, just my opinion.
the new thing looks better than the crap starter one we got a few years back but its not better than fantastic forces.. and its just as good as clobbering time. now if it had a better paint job and it wasn't on that stupid pedestal he would be better than the clobbering time but the way you pull him out of a pack i would say they are about equal quality wise.
same with Mr. Fantastic. Fantastic forces was the best, starter was the worst, this new one and the clobbering time are about equal quality wise.
First of all, these tags on the post are actually ridiculous. If you're feeling ripped off, I'm sure there's some way to deactivate your account and there's sites where you can sell your figs. Nobody's forcing you to play. You're entitled to your opinion, but the fact of the matter is, this game is better than it was 10 years ago, that's for damn sure.
Secondly, you complain about re-using sculpts, then you bring up the old, pre-carded sets? Pro Tip: There were 3 versions of the same sculpt in the old sets. We called them REV and they actually sucked.
No no, don't correct me. The old REV characters SUCKED. 3 sculpts of the same character, no way to determine rarity and, as evidenced by the CT Thing, many of them were ugly as hell. Not to say that a bunch of figures now don't suffer the same fate now (i.e.: GG Hulk's "little arm," the orange blob known as the Thing, etc.), but trust me, the figures are much better looking now. I'll take a 50 character set over a 100 character set with REVs. I never want to go back to REVs. I have a box full of REVs in my basement and not a one of them is good. At all.
Thirdly, I am in favor of reusing sculpts. Very much so. This keeps Wizkids' costs down, and keeps the costs of boosters and product down. Simple economics. This game can't be all that cheap to produce; it's certainly much more expensive than Magic or any CCG. That's better for the consumer. Much better. I pay enough to play this farkakte (it's Yiddish, look it up) game already. Sure, I recognize that maybe it's a little too much re-using (I'm looking at you, Hulk), but it keeps the cost down. And it's not like they're skimping on detail. The GG Chases are gorgeous and actually make sense as re-sculpts because they're just the characters with "special objects." Even the "accursed" Hulk sculpt is pretty cool with the different variants (Mulk, Fantastic Four, Cosmic Hulk).
So in closing, I'm in favor of reusing sculpts, because the alternative is no sculpts at all. Because the game will be dead. Again. I don't want that. Do you?
Well, your "hatred" must have decreased over time, because I can't believe you still even play this game after what some of the sculpts from infinity challenge and collateral damage did to you!
Regardless...one man's opinion is another man's disagreement.
I think the game is suppose to be "played with", and because of that, the interactions of the pieces are important to me, hence the point of having great dials.
If the sculpts were all important, why even bother with heroclix?? I hear Mattel is making some great looking six inch action figures.
well for one Infinity challenge was the first set so we had nothing to compare it to.. but once crit mass came out you heard us all complain about sculpt quality. and as for collateral damage... for the most part that set was great sculpt wise. i think it was Secret Invasion that i had enough with and only bought 2 boosters of. and just about every set after that was only two boosters until GSX, then i didn't buy any Cap, and a few of the hulk. and so far only 3 boosters of this set, will be buying more next week for the sealed. and that will prolly be it for this set.
not sure what you mean by that but i have said many times before that SI is the worst sculpted set ever!!! and i hopped on the bad sculpts band wagon back in mutations and monsters... that is where the sculpt quality started to really go down. and Crit Mass was the first worst sculpted set... after that set the quality picked up and kept getting better until around Avengers
There was a time period, from maybe Avengers to Secret Invasion, where I was modding TONS of figures because of terrible sculpts.
But the best measure of sculpt quality I have is how many figures scream at me to be modded. And in the last year, I can think of like 2. Sculpts are getting SO much better, even if there's a bit of re-use.
And Fast Forces and CTDs shouldn't be included in this count. They are bonus content on top of the normal set.

huh?? calm down the only reason older pre carded sets were brought up was because people like you brought them up.. and it was to talk about sculpt quality. not the reuse of sculpts. B^)
to be honest i don't want to go back to REV either!! but i would like it if we could have what Tuttle promised us back when they first started the carded figs.. rarity would play a key part in quality of sculpt, and we would have all unique sculpts for each fig!! we have neither.
Of the chases, that is one point that I will defend despite my stance on reusing sculpts for SRs. I like the idea behind it. All the chases are iconic characters in possession of some item of great power. That, I think, is a good gimmick for a set of chases. That being the case, I find the re-use of the character bodies excusable as the possession of these items doesn't necessarily alter a character's appearance a whole lot. I think it is a poor coincidence that this good set of chases happens to be in a set that contains a lot of sculpt reuse that follows a set that also contained a lot of sculpt reuse, putting the practice under so much scrutiny and criticism.
Reusing sculpts:
For generics: Good
For LEs: Good
For FF anf GF: Good
For SRs: Bad
For Chases: Usually Bad
It's like people don't remember the DC75 White Lanterns... and there were ten of those monstrosities!
Chases are like hidden portions of the set, and if for one set they decide they want to make all their Chases versions of characters with cool objects... well that's just fine. It means this set the Chases won't be as valuable or sought after, but does that really cause a problem? WoS had no chases, and GSX had Chases that were way too easy to find. This set has neither of those problems.
Example - I don't like GSXs Iceman sculpt. I think it's hoaky and awkward and doesn't show iceman in a combat pose that's cool, but instead a very non-dynamic pose from the 1960s. And I LOVE Iceman, and when we get the fast forces I'll be mad if he's good and I want to use him but I have to suffer the character sculpt again.
I was bothered by this too. So I cut the thug off the ice block. It looks much better now.

To be fair, Tuttle isn't with Heroclix anymore, and his company closed the doors since that announcement was made. I doubt very much that his policies on Heroclix are given much weight at NECA/Wizkids.
I just can't wait for WizKids to go out of business.

I realize that VGA's been banned...again...likely for calling anyone who doesn't drink his WK-Hater-Aid sheeple. But it's hilarious to see the hypocrisy at work here.
VGA hates WizKids. Said in a previous post that he was never buying from them again. Loathes their sculpt re-use. Thinks anyone who is actually happy with the product is a brainwashed tool...
...and spent $218 on their product. Over twice what I (one of the "brainwashed sheeple") will be spending on clix these six months.
Can't wait for them to go out of business, bro? I'd suggest finding a real comfortable chair to wait in. You've done more to keep them in business than I have.

don't mean i cant wish we had all unique sculpts and rarity determined the quality of sculpt with SRs and chases being amazing!!! we never really had that last part and now we don't have either

I pick the worst nights to go to be early
I don't see a huge issue with sculpt reuse. The last Hulk set felt like the Soldier generics and the #1 Hulk were a bit over used but this set feels like it's back to a good mix in my eyes. The chases I can understand people being upset about but the sculpts for Surfer, Thanos and Doom were very strong in my opinion and I have no problem with quality sculpts being changed slightly in a situation like this. (White Lanterns were largely an abomination before and after and most of those sculpts shouldn't have seen the light of day.)
Clearing out all my D.C. H/W current. All haves for trade. Lots of generic figures.
