I went to my first con last year (Origins) and had a blast at everything I went to EXCEPT the Wizkids booth.
The whole thing was full of long lines and just came off as poorly ran. It was as if every other game booth focused on fun while Wizkids focused on pushing product and competition (the exception being the volunteers showing Attack Wing, they were great).
The worst part is the folks running the booth were stroking it to the chaos they were causing. They obviously relished in seeing the mass of salivating neckbeards they had before them drooling over con exclusives.
And now this year? Talk about forgetting the fans. People are drawn to this game via the source materials. Most of us grew up talking about how a fight would go between the Avengers and the JL, and this game let's us play that out. But the idea of fan favorites like the Spiderman TB being withheld from any sensible method of being obtained makes me question their motives and marketing "skills."
You can't even say it's about the money for them anymore after this. It's just an ego trip for all of them during con season. These are lonely, terrible people we're dealing with.
well lets hope that a lesson was learned with the Con Belt Items, and these Lanterns put out in a fashion that wont make them to expensive...i am going to be so pissed if i have to spend hundreds of dollars to get these freaking Lanterns. (i am a Lantern Fan and would really like to play only Lanterns, WoL will allow that, but man...THE COST lol)
well, sorry about all of our luck with this one lets actually hope that the Lanterns are Crap in the end and no one wants them hahaha (thats stretching the hope spectrum some)
Give us the Flying Dutchman's Ghost.

That Lantern BS...wow. As upset as I am about the TB being a con exclusive I'd be livid if I were a Lantern fan looking forward to collecting WoL. Those UB ConEx items still sell for ridiculously high sums of money. I hate to think what ConEx Lantern Bases AND ConEx constuct items will cost. Add to that the fact that the BL Anti-Monitor was pitched as part of WoL and its a huge turnaround/backstab to the fans.
This is supposed to be a collectible minis game. How the hell is this "collectible"?
They should really change the term to "uncollectible" for this game specifically. :P

I went to GenCon, not Origins, but my experience was different than yours. The volunteers seemed to just want to get folks out of the line and playing as soon as possible (which is what they are there for). It was well organized, which was a nice turnaround fro when I was there in 2011. I didn't exactly get "loaded up" on con ex pieces, but i had a good time. I will say that my Attack Wing experience matched yours - those guys were the best.
Of course, most of that goes out the window with the way they are doing the con exes this year. I prefer to play in BRs with friends to get my con exes, as I am at Gencon to have fun and get stuff you are supposed to get for playing at Gencon. I'm not trying to drive my vanquished foes before me and drink the tears of their women. I'm skipping GenCon because of the new policy they announced last year for this con season. I like to play other games, but it's too far to go from California when the main game I'm going for is trying to keep their con items out of my dirty little hands.
No one responded, and the date hasn't changed, so am I the only one that noticed that Attack Wing Wave 3 DIDN'T come out yesterday, as it shows in the first post? My FLGS says it's due the 26th.
CarlosMucha: that is like be running in a Olimpic race competition just one step to get the gold and then a Giant children place a mirror in your side and you discover what you are really a hamster over a whell and the gold is just a slice of chess. Avatar Summoning: Original GotG, Melter, Whiplash
Well, talk with my venue today about the FF Legion of Doom coming out this Wednesday, well that got delay to the 26 too.
Yes, I suspected as much; but the word was that FF Legion of Doom was still on for this Wednesday.
Salu Digby as LeVIathan in clix!

Are you kidding me? Ugh, why can't they release anything on time??

It isn't. It's a "give us your money" game. Of course, we eventually get sucked into it. But I'm P.O about the different colored lanterns, and especially pissed off at the spidey team base. Used to watch that cartoon everyday!! (and I'm only 16 :D) Stupid con exclusive crap.

That's because the movies are way better than the books.
I will bite on this - sorry to hijack thread..but c'mon!
For overstimulated generation-x/y/z'rs, perhaps they conclude movies better than the books. But no contest for me.
The movies were admirably done and tell some parts of the story very well. They go over the top quickly in parts - the scope of battles and the CGI gets way out of hand - no restraint - I think the large scope of battles actually becomes unbelievable and makes it look like a video game with thousands of CGI figs copied all over the screen. The action scenes also lack restraing and 'go hollywood'. And frodo and sam get way corny on screen at times, to where it is painful. the orcs and baddies in the movies turn it into a horror show half the time - some people like - i thought it was over the top and lacked restraint.
great movies, just shouldn't be held over the books imo. casting was great and movies are great overall, but to put them over the books?
books created a deep and immersive world that movie can't achieve. books are consistently told through tolkien's eyes and words and there is beauty, restraint, respect for the story and characters. movies go hollywood at times as mentioned above, including changes to the plot, and cannot equal masterfully written books in creating depth of character and story. when i read the books i am in awe of how detailed the world is that was created.
