Good news: The problem with the over-counter lighting was indeed a bad dimmer switch!
Bad news: The circuit with said lighting on it was not the one I shut off. I was too lazy to confirm with the line tester, and I got zapped in front of Angila.

Of course I had one. I'd been using it all day for a couple faulty outlets and dead wiring. However, I was positive the switch was on the same circuit as the outlet a few inches away! Alas, to my shock, it was not.

Been there, and I understand. I just wear leather gloves now and sometimes I make the power go off in the sparky way.

Every time I see one of these, I find myself wondering if they're asking "Who would win in a fight?" or "Who's the better/more popular character?"

Those are VERY different criteria, and many of the polls I've seen can't seem to decide which they're asking.
