the templar is 85 tons and the templar standard loadout on mercs is nothing like its CBT loadouts. but i am very happy to see because its my most fav. mech, though from what i hear its not spectacular. also love that uzeil, and i hope it has pulse.
All I know is that my Swordsworn are finally going to get a LE Templar, my favorite assault mech. I am hoping for something like this...
Ada Yung
Primary Ballistic 0/16" 5 damage no SE's
Secondary Energy 0/12" 3 damage Pulse SE
7 on movement
11 targeting
22 armor no SE's
293 pts
The heat dial could reflect the typical swordsworn issues with perhaps two clear clicks and then some heavy colors on the third fourth and fifth clicks. Time will tell.
I am also super hyped about the Uziel. It is my favorite medium mech and would be a staple in my armies if its equipment is worth it.
Despite my earlier disparaging comment about WK's faculties in the gaming industry, I have to admit that I actually like the numbers I'm seeing, if not the words.
Combined with set retirement, these seemingly-low stat numbers are going to be a true boon to the game's ability to last, if that's even a possibility at this point. Avoiding power creep, no matter how much turbulence that throws into the power-gaming tournament set, is the best possible thing that WK can do for MechWarrior and I applaud them for it, in game terms.
My problems still come in with the childishly inane fluff that WK produces for all of its games, but especially MechWarrior. For some reason when I read over the Mage Knight scrying pool I get the feeling that its fiction is trying to be of an even more sophisticated caliber than MW's was and I just find something terribly backwards about that.
So low attack, low damage, low defense: Very good.
Adolescent background writing: Very bad.
DFA may not just include physical attacks (hence the no damage) flying up to an enemy and firing down into him can hit even more vital systems...that is just a hypothesis from my perspective
i was thinking the same thing. if i remember correctly in the books when a mechwarrior DFA's it means they are generally firing down on a unit with a better chance of a cockpit hit. i could be wrong but i dont remember the mechs slamming into eachother. sorry if i am wrong its been awhile since i've read one of the books that they DFA in and its late.
One of the book catologing the 4th succession war (Can't remember which one, I think it's the 1st or 2nd in the series) has a FireStarter DFAing a Goliath Quad. As he plummets downward, he's firing his gund IIRC...
My cyclops from Mech Commander II
"Old One Eye"
2 Clan ER PPCs
3 Swarm LRM RACKs(probably LRM 10 Equiv)
1 Clan Pulse Laser
1 Machine Gun
Probably 17 tones of armor as I had it at max
3 Double heat sinks cuz no way the weren't
This thing ate everything from mediums to other assualts alive!!! and gave my forces sensor range over the whole field...BTW THERE RUMORS OF NEW SEs so maybe the Cyclops will have something to show this other then command.
Maybe all the Jade Falcon Mechs will have low primary dmg to offset their increased ability to inflict DFAs and reflect poor close combat potential. The Gyrfalcon is what 230, and has only 3 primary dmg.
1: I love clantech, but the highlanders getting elementals is wrong. I'm willing to let the occational things pass, ie: gnomes and CBA. But Elementals are _only_ piloted by those high-stamina brusers. And since when are there Elementals in the Highlanders? BAH.
2: No mech with defense over 22, and higher attack. There goes the neighborhood... Look Mr Highlanders player, you dropped your soap.
3: I'd love to have 3 full lances, but the wolves don't even have a full star yet, wtf? Wtf indeed.
4: The 16" range is a clan only advantage. The wolves got it cuz they have big ballistic, and the cats got it cuz of their energy. I could see maybe, maybe one Highlander mech getting it due to a really good sniper pilot... but no not even then, it's bad enough the SS Balac has it.
5: (random insert) People complain about Clan mechs being better for the points. Even notice almost none double target? (save some of the new ones) It's against clan honor to do so, so yet again, a clan trait allows for better point efficency.
6: If we get jipped on tactical SE this set, again, I'm going to be so pissed. Are flamers and AnP too much to ask??? I'm sick of 2-3 dmg streak!! and I don't want to have to field Eriabee against infantry heavy armies!! YARRRR!!
Ahh were exactly did they say Attack ratings are going down to compensate for the continued lowering of mech defense ratings. As far as I have heard Attack ratings will stay at the current CA level of letheality while Defense continues to stay low.
Well here is another nut to crack guys. I was thinking (Ohhh scary I know)Its been hinted that we will get 3 new SE's mabey to help Clan Jade Falcon Mechs combat the inevitable Infantry swarms their low Def mechs will face they could be bringing in Anit-Per Pods. If I had my guess they would give the mech an attack against basing infantry. Mabey it would do damage to all infantry units in base contact with the mech. Would make trying to tie a JF mech w/infantry risky at best.
Also cant wait to play skeet shot with my AA defense tank the first time some Sylph BA try hiting my DZ at Cruising Altitude can we say PULL ..........BOOM good shot
