All of that money tht was completely wasted. The time was cool though. I think that the consensus is that WIZKIDS!! F###'ed this game up, did a half *** job and now they have sh!ted on this game. I wonder what they find in this game in 2 years after they try and clean up their mess. I am glad that I couldn't sink too much into this game. Screw you WIZKIDS!!! Thanks for the time and the "interesting" discussions and debates. Thanks mods. Thanks members.
I'll delete this link of my homepage as well as the WIZKIDS!!! one.
well, i think that if wizkids not says a word about this.. many players will go out of the game.. we cant resist another drastic change... here in chile, with the change of 1.0 to 2.0, a lot of players have retired, and a few still in the game.. many new players was add to the game, but only because we feel revitalized with the new mecanic.. and this is a great game mechanic.. but, now, well feel fear for the changes, beacuse you dont says nothing about this catastrofic notice...
I'm going to look at it this way: They just "unretired" all my 1.0 figures :) Since there will no longer be "supported" play we can bring back the oldies to the fray. After this year we can just have fun again. That's why I started playing this game back in the Alpha days. I will buy Nexus because I have seen them and they are awesome, and you can't beat the distribution they are going to have. So yeah WK is going to get some more money from me but this WILL BE THE LAST TIME!!!
It will be nice to field pieces like Stormy, Magus, Vladd, Lich, Scarabet and the Wraith again while others do the same.
So up yours Wizkids...we're going to have fun without you!!!!
I'm just glad I never spent outrageous amounts of money on certain figures (namely any of the original Four Horseman). Those who did must really be ticked at WK right now. I don't blame them one DAMl\l bit.
1. We made a very good game, this is soo bad! We get money, the customers are happy, let's make changes
2. The changes were nice too, this is not good!!! Let's make retirement!
3. Good, many of the buyers dropped. But still too many customers. Well, they probably will buy #### as well, so let's stop playtesting.
4. Starting another game(plastic boat) wil be a nice way to divide the remaining players.
5. Still too many players. Perhaps they will rebuy old stuff renewed! They like the idea??? Kick our idea-maker! Let's stop this game before the players come back!!!
Anyone had a feeling like this, or do i have some paranoia?
I don't know if anyone else mentioned this, but I just noticed something in the announcement. The very last paragraph/disclaimer:
"Its Mage Knight, MechWarrior and HeroClix® CMGs and Pirates and Rocketmen™ CSGs are among the most successful games on the market today"
Ok, I know it might do good, but why is Rocketmen listed? WTF? It won't come out for another 56 days, according to the WK website. It's not successful until they actually sell it. Man, whatever they're smoking in PR, they need to share with the rest of us.
Originally posted by ArmyC Guys, do what I did. Pop off your MK figures and put them onto WARMACHINE or Warhammer bases, and you can proxy an army. Buy the rules and you can get started.
Only problem I see with that (and I'm sure a lot of other people would agree with on this one) is "If i wanted to play Warhammer (or 40k) i would play warhammer"
I for one got into mage knight because i found the game to be superior to 40K despite the fantasy wrappings, it was quick it was fast and it was cheap and my no talent impatient butt didn't have to build anything the figures were premade and looked decent (except for the Troll chieftain) and most of the other sets made the game more fun and interesting including 2.0 which despite some minor flaws brought the game to a new level .
and while i like some of the alien armies of 40k ,after being a MK player i just find the game too slow and thus don't play it
wow looks like I picked the wrong time to get back in
Well, this is the official report reflecting my local scene. Mage Knight has been pretty dead around these parts for over a year now, which had me sorting through all of my figures and spreading them out on my dining room table. My wife and I guestimated that I had over a thousand of these little buggers.
I will be saving my "core set" of 1.0 (Rebellion plus the mounted figures from Lancers and Whirlwind) and the origianl Dungeons set, and packing up the rest. That should give me a good snapshot of a game that I really enjoyed for a long time that perhaps I can bug my friends to play from time to time.
SO glad that I am going to GenCon this year, and will not lament missing whatever events I signed up for to play in the Farewell to MageKnight event. I hope they run unrestricted games for this event, as I would like to get back to my roots and play the Best Dwarfs Ever 300 pointer for posterity:
Been gone for a few weeks and I come back to this.......again.
I was never "a gamer" and will probably never be. I was an "MK Player" and that was it. I bought other stuff to trade, etc., but MK was the game I played. HC was boring, SC was actually interesting the first time around....MK was the only TRUE strategy game they had in my eyes.
It just sucks and I'm just sad to see that something that is a pretty darn good game that could have been a great hobby if handled better, be flushed down the toilet for the likes of Rocketman......WTF?
Video games have limitations.......MK's only limitation was our imagination and errors in judgement by its creators.
As for all the griping or gloating by members of this site, whichever side of the fence you have chose to stand, just get it out of your system. Each of us has earned the right to do it, but it doesn't necessarily have to the focus of what we are, were, or become our legacy in the MK Universe..........
