But alliance events typically bring more of the "puzzle" to PQ.
I agree with you a whole lot. Maybe it's because I am not in 5* land like you but PVP featuring Quicksilver is fun because you need to figure out when to make blue matches so you can get his frozen TU damage dealing power off. Also, Polaris makes me rethink moves where I want to try my best to get a cascade from matching special tiles as opposed to Gritty when you want to cascade but not destroy your special tiles.
Balance of Power is also nice because it is the closest thing we can get to a training simulator where we can try out combinations between toons we may not normally use..

I think that what MPQ needs is some sort of general scenario thing that provides a limit in some way.
Think of Clix when there is some sort of broken meta in play. One of the classics was WoS Nightcrawler. In many places, with nothing limiting things, an average event was “ok, so who are you pairing NC with?” A proactive judge would design builds or scenarios that would limit (or even eliminate) that character from play. Like, they would run a nobody over 50 points or something.
MPQ needs something like that on a regular basis.
You occasionally get a PVP like that between seasons, but not always.
I would like to see some sort of circuit or something where there are limiting tiers one can choose to play. These would be based on star level. Like, I could play the 3* tier, and then I will face nothing ranked higher than 3*. The important thing would be that prizes of every tier are Identical. This means you are not compelled to jump into tier five to get the best stuff.
You could even make it so that lower starred toons get powered up to fit that tier. Playing in the 2* tier means that 1* Iron Man gets a +94, so he is rocking Things like a max-champed 2*.
In a sense on the PvE front, it would be good to see Heroic events with character limits (even just limiting 4*s and maybe even blocking all 5*).
I also suggested on the boards that since they won't run 7-day events due to not having worked out the appropriate way to work rewards (would it reward a full 5* cover?), they should just split them into a 4-day and 3-day event pair that go back-to-back. Just so people can have a little extra variety on the Story side which often feels stale.

Call me crazy, but KISS...double rewards.
Don’t want to fully double up on one 5* character’s rewards? Ok, so pick two characters and you can choose either one for the 5* essential, but on the progress levels where you would double some 5* shards, give some for each.
Ie, in a normal PVE the sixth progress reward is x50 4* shards, and the ninth is x50 5* shards. So in a 7 day event you give x100 4* at level six, then you give two x50 5* shards At level nine, one for each of two different 5*s.
I really do not see how this is that hard. I mean it isn’t like the players are getting something extra. You still put in the same amount of time that would get you this if it was two events.
I am guessing that it may be the result of players who do not understand how math works complaining or something.
Seriously, I see posts on FB. There are some pretty dumb people playing this game. I once saw one guy complaining that SWitch’s CD power was broken and must not be truly random because about half the time it shows up on an edge. No kidding, moron. There are 64 tiles on the game board. 28 of those are edge tiles. 28 is just about half of 64, so yeah, if it didn’t show up there about half the time, then something would be wrong.
Clix has the same issue with players not understanding how math works. (I am thinking of the people who made incorrect claims like GSX chases were more common than super rares. )

One of, if not the very, first tournament I ran after being promoted to RA was at WW:LA. Back then, WK required everyone use their dice and we had these small, soft, white dice, 2 pairs on every map. At one point during the weekend, this one guy stopped his game, called me over, and complained that the dice were rigged to roll low. That every roll he's made has been 6 or lower. I pointed and said "these dice?" and he said "yeah" (with some expletives). I picked them up, rolled them, got a 4-5. Told him they seemed fine. The epilogue to that story is that his opponent came to me afterwards confused by his anger ... apparently earlier in the match he had rolled 2 crit hits in a row.
This also happened with HCO a lot. People would notice runs of low numbers but ignored the runs of high numbers. I think when we lift the dice and drop them, we have enough tactical evidence that we aren't doing something unusual that runs are chalked up to chance. But when a computer does it, people begin to suspect dirty pool. And, as a developer, I can tell you - the logic you'd need to build into the system to deliberately mess with the randomness ... it's SO much work, why would you NOT just use a randomizer that spits out a random number. Because that is typically 1-2 lines of code where the less-than-randomizer code would be tons of logic, probably a look up or two and slow things down.
If anything it was real nice to see that Polaris is the alliance progression reward. Not fond of the required toons but at least I get to use what I want against Apocalypse. I did really wish that the LLs we got as prizes would be for the 5* Deadpool LL store whatever it is named.

What are the spicy tacos, and how did I get a token for that vault?
I thought that it was perhaps a daily reward for using the new 5* Deadpool. I thought I had seen something flash up when I used him in the Apoc event yesterday, but I just used him again today and did not get anything.

So with a post from the 13th it is saying you get one a day for using him...like I guessed....but that does not explain why I did not get one today.
I am guessing maybe something like....
- You do not get one if you have one already.*
- The “day” for 5* begins and ends at a different time than the “day” for 3* DP.
* I hope this is not the case. That vault is kinda meh, so I like the idea of saving up the spicy tokens for when you can guarantee the 4* which seems to rotate daily.

Thats good to know, I will take anything extra that I can. I have over 30 LLs and will probably have over 40 pulls once he's in the LL vault
However, those vaults are pretty bad like you said. I wouldn't mind the boosts as much if there were fewer of them. I think they could have taken out at least 10 boosts to put in...
some HP, (20 hp?)
come CP, (5-10 hp?)
some shards (50-100?) for the featured 4* for the next day
some shards (50-100?) for the featured 4* from the previous day
some shards (50-150?) for a 5*
mighty token(s)
elite token(s)
heroic token(s)

Welcome to a new episode of Phantalien's ideas where today Phantalien has yet another "amazing" idea.
OK guys bear with me. I was just thinking that with each improvement made it allows us to make complaints about other things.
What I would appreciate is the creation of Classic Legends tokens. Sure we can spend 20 CP to open one but games like to find a way to screw over their fans so I figure CL tokens is a great way to go. It is good because it allows people to gain more 4*s or 5*s but people would complain because they would rather have the 20 CP to go to LLs or a fan favorite store. So win for us and win for them right?
CL tokens would be a way to give a prize in SCL 9 and 10 (maybe 8) but a prize that is just not as good as the LL. CL tokens could be added to a prize pool just like an LL and in addition to an LL. It will provide a better incentive to use tokens, spend HP or whatever to try to make the pull, or use more HP to ensure better placement. Keep in mind I do not want to remove a CP prize.
The only thing I know that I did not factor in, which I am sure nbperp or harpua could correct me has to do with the game economy. The game economy involves all the numbers and calculations involved in what items are worth from a game designer's standpoint. In the game this includes their prevalence in the game, game balance, how much $ the company could gain or lose with the idea, and other factors that I am sure I have factored in.

I guess something like that would be nice, but with the CP option, I just don’t see a need.
Now, if they did something like tweak the Mighty Tokens to have a 1% chance or so of getting a classic 5*, now your are talking.

1:100 chance of getting a classic 5? I would take those odds over nothing. Opening a mighty token providing 1 5* shard would also be a nice added touch no need to have bonus 5* shards for mighties.

I don't like the Mighty token leading to a 5* because it messes with people's ability to manage their roster. Someone coming p, not ready for a 255 character in their roster, shouldn't have to hold up all their Mighty tokens (and stunt their ability to enter 4* land) because they don't want that risk/inevitability.
But I do like the idea of a Classic Legend Token (CLT and cheese, please). Either in progression (replacing gold or ISO or even 4* shards, but NOT replacing CP) or rewards (say, 1 for top 50, 2 for top 20)

What if instead of a 1:100 chance at a 5* you had a 1:100 chance at a CL token? That means instead of a 3* or 4* you would get the shards as normal but the toon you pull is a CL token. I think it is completely win-win. it is like giving a guaranteed 4 with a chance at a 5 but you can horde those CLs all you want. Since it is a guaranteed 4 it's as if you just made a good pull with a mighty token.
