I always thought that Miller's ASB&R was ol' Frank simply being too full of himself and spiraling downward into a self-parody. Never crossed my mind that a lot of what was in that book was intentional. Heh, now I gotta look at those issues again in that perspective!
See, the funny thing is, is that ASB&R could have been a brilliant attempt to deconstruct the whole Batman mythology and rebuild or redefine the character in a new and/or significant way.
Unfortunately Miller, at best, parodies his own work or, at worst, just doesn't give a damn and hates writing the character.
I tells you, my votes for the latter. ESPECIALLY after seeing Miller's movie treatment of the Spirit.
I gotta say, the only reason I bought the book was for Lee's artwork and event then it was a tough sell.

I just got finished reading Rise of Arsenal issue 1 and Roy gets his arm lobed off, and Lian gets killed
One of my favorite scenes during the Meltzer run of Justice League of America was when Roy introduced Lian to Hawkgirl. Lian was dressed up as Speedy for Halloween.
I didn't even bother getting the rest of Justice League: Cry for Justice (I stopped after #3). Huh. I may see if my local shop has 'em and Rise of Arsenal #1.

Cry for Justice was actually quite good and the artwork was beautiful. It sets up the new lineup for the regular JLA series, although I am dropping it from my orders. It's just changed too much for me. JLA was where I would get my sampling of Superman, Green Arrow, Zatanna, etc. but with the new lineup I'm just not into it. That, and I hate Bagley's art.
I didn't go to Harvard or Yale but I can kick a man in the crotch as well as any other.

Bagley's art is the reason I dropped Trinity after the first issue. I'm just not that big a fan of Bagley's pencils. I give the dude credit for being reliable and all with his work but I don't mind a bit of a delay on a book if the art/writing is outstanding.
So I picked up Rise of Arsenal #1 yesterday. Not bad. I'm now looking forward to finishing off Cry for Justice and seeing if anyone gets some payback for what Prometheus did to Roy and Lian...
Anyone pick up Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers Unleashed?

I am anxiously awaiting the Trade myself.

Following "Post Like VGA Day," we should each choose a fellow Last Poster and "kill" one another in a random thread. To score the kill, though, you must post how they've been eliminated immediately after they've posted something.
