Miss South Carolina is telling people a pretty big secret. She lost 110 pounds before taking the beauty pageant crown.
Miss Capital City Bree Boyce won the crown Saturday. The 22-year-old from Florence will compete for the Miss America title in Las Vegas in January.
Boyce has done several interviews holding up the size 18 pair of jeans she used to wear, saying she wants to inspire people to lose weight. She is especially proud that she won a preliminary swimsuit competition.
...just another heartwarming story to help let those in size 18 jeans to feel bad about themselves. Beauty is always so much more beautiful when it's presented in a size 2- absolutely ridiculous! Seriously, how can someone not realize this before they send this story out?!
If you work hard you will fit in that size 2 one day. I believe in you.

All I know is: I was one of those folks rooting for Kirstie Alley on "Dancing With the Stars"!
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!

I look at it more from an inspirational perspective. She used to be overweight but worked hard to lose the weight. It shows that it can be done.
Heck, I'm living proof. I lost 140 pounds on my own. It was a rough and long journey, but I did it. A lot of people give up hope thinking they can't lose weight and keep it off, but it's possible.

That certainly is the other side of the story. I don't think I would look too much into it if it weren't a beauty pageant contestant. If this was an office worker, an anonymous student, or a scientist it would be fine but for a beauty contestant it just seems different.
Of course, I could be projecting that. I only lost 25 pounds a little while ago and feel pretty good about it (let alone what either of you did and what a lasting effect that must have!) but I'm not admired by the group this lady would be speaking to.
I could be wrong though but it just seems like it would make girls in size 18 jeans feel bad, or more bad, about themselves.
