that's really not the point. the problem is the DRASTIC reduction in the value of reducers has made every single piece that came before this absurdly overcosted in comparison and completely devalues thousands of clix. thousands.
So does every release. Or at least every year of releases.
This type of game has always been about devaluing the older figures.

The figures in this set are indeed undercounted compared to the past. But in my eyes the past versions of these that were over costed never saw play. For instance I wouldnt play the absorbing man chase at 150-180 like he would use to cost. That 100 point price point makes me far more likely to take the risk with him. Several figures in this det feel that way. It is a good thing. Rather than being outraged that these guys bring good things to the table at decent point costs, you should be angry that previous figures came in at 200 points for the same.

And I won't argue that notion, but I'll argue the blame.
Close combatants relying on damage reduction have been overcosted in comparison to everything else in the game for HeroClix' entire lifespan.
This may be a nail on the coffin for some characters (note: not all, because MANY figures with reducers who have come before will CONTINUE to compete), but that bell was ringing for a decade now.

This is a real concern here, and an argument FOR the way this set was done.
Do you release a set where 80% of the figures will under-perform, from day one, simply because of precedent?
Or do you learn from the past, and price figures based on performance?
We faced this kind of an abrupt transition back with Secret Invasion, and the game ended up better for it. This is much less drastic than The Thing and Namor were to their respective environment.
Yes it was, but putting the name Avengers in the title gives the impression it should be the main theme and thus people expect to see more Avengers. An announced sub theme has been as little as 1 piece before (pet avengers). And I know that whole Superman and the Legion thing without a Superman, but that just strengthens my point about managing expectations.
I count around 10 Avengers who don't clearly fall under the Cap or Ironman themes, maybe a little more depending on if you count Agents of Wakanda as it own separate subtheme. There's at least 17 people here for the Ironman subtheme which is more than just Stark Industries kw.
I'm not saying they shouldn't be here, I'm just saying we could have managed our expectations more if the set was named differently and maybe people wouldn't be complaining every time another Ironman for is revealed.

Very much this. WWE rules were the signal things were moving for reals in the direction of juicing CQC. I guess colossal Hulk and Juggernaut were signals too Either way, here we are!
17 is an extremely cherry picked number. I'm assuming you're counting several avengers in the mix there just because they also have stark industries? I count 8 including his villains, 3 more if you count shifting focus iron man(an avenger, as well) and that's totalling 11. There are 11 sinister six in Earth X(not counting Pres Osborn, 12 with). It seems perfectly reasonable. Theres just a ton of bleed between Tony's personal cast and the avengers.
