17 is an extremely cherry picked number. I'm assuming you're counting several avengers in the mix there just because they also have stark industries? I count 8 including his villains, 3 more if you count shifting focus iron man(an avenger, as well) and that's totalling 11. There are 11 sinister six in Earth X(not counting Pres Osborn, 12 with). It seems perfectly reasonable. Theres just a ton of bleed between Tony's personal cast and the avengers.
*edit* typos
Regardless of how we break it down, my point is that people complain every time a figure that is associated with Ironman is revealed. They even got mad about Melter being here, a character that's been clixed once before and who is arguable here more for the MOE subtheme than the Ironman sub theme.
All I am saying is that maybe people would complain less if they expected Ironman to be as big a theme as he is.
Also note, I am not one of the people upset about this. Just an observation.
Luckily I play with a group that values fun over anything else, so I can play older pieces mixed with newer ones and still get some wins in. Hell, last week I played 225 point Graviton from AoU and he was kicking ass. We all recognize the Power Leap cost reductions, and will make sure not to further break the broken clix.
After seeing yesterday's previews, my brother said it made him wistful for the days when he was scared of Immortal Hulk, like he thought he knew what fear was then. My response was "hide your clix, hide your dice". But like I said, we put a premium on fun at our spot, so nobody is going to be playing these guys on cutthroat teams. More likely Arno will be played with some IIM clix to even it all out.

I feel ya, I think we get that response with every set. It just seems so prevalent here because of the bleed over amongst casts. That and people are really excited for thunderbolts and deep cut Cap characters. I do think Cap gets the shaft here not because of Iron Man but because Wizkids sees "Captain America" and shotguns shield characters in lol.
I wonder if the fact that Invincible Iron Man is one of the few “recent” sets you can still get bricks for under $40 made WK hesitant to allow Tony to mainline his own set.

Changing the topic, l count 18 figures still not revealed, (including the real Captain America... you know, who this set is based on...). We know some figures for sure, like Sam Cap is a Rare, Ultron is the last Chase and Steve is the Uncommon of the Captain. How many spaces do we NOT know who it could be? What is left after the confirmed figures?
I mostly play friendly games these days, I think for this set we're going to have to make a house rule that you can only use some fraction of the point total for figures from this or future sets if they follow this sort of design philosophy. A sort of highlander rule.
So like, a 400 point game means you can only have 100 points of CAAV figures haha. They'll feel more impactful and maybe older figures will at least be able to contribute at some point.

Or find ways to exploit the new figures and adapt.
Example: Arno Stark has the same Invincible special power for all 4 of his good clicks. Outwit it, and he goes down easily. You may want to base him with someone expendable, or someone who's annoying in close quarters, while you do this, as he can't shoot out of adjacency and can't gain his 12 range if he has to Sidestep. He's also lousy indoors, so bring a theme team.
