I like it because it has a good base defence and great speed for a assault! Like I said previously I want to get some armies going that uses some of the old stuff, but in the meantime here is something I want to try just for the fun of it:
-Shrike "Black Rose" + Shizuka
-Sylph BA*3
-Long Tom
-Sniper arty
-Skadi VTOL:^^^:
-Fenrir BA
599 points
Shrike, arty and skadi do the first damage, sylphs clear up and fenrir is a little gaurd dog for the arty. Before tearing it appart keep in mind I like playing regimental pure:classic:
The primary problem is that it can't possibly formation well enough or keep the arty clean. I'd drop a couple of Sylphs for some other 'qualifying' infantry and it'd actually be not too bad.
Maybe replace the Skadi with a Yasha. Fragile, but you can't argue with 3 AP at 12". I think it's even cheaper than the Skadi. I also tend to favor the Hadurs over the Long Toms and Snipers ( That's a lot of points put into extremely inaccurate Pogs). With the points you save you may be able to slap in another sylph or some more Elementals (good choice, long dials) or even another Fenrir to protect the other Arty. I myself would recommend the Sylph, as it is the speedy pulsing baser of doom (one of the best units CJF got). You also might consider a shamash for that first turn arty ram, although I try to stay away from suicide pieces (which the Shamash most certainly are) as they can cost you the game through attrition.

I would agree with Badbird here as I have had nothing but good luck with the Yasha. It is a great piece for plinking infantry, administering the coup-de-grace to that damaged 'mech or vehicle or running up the side of the board to threaten enemy artillery.

This is a tough one. The Hadur is undeniably more accurate than either the LT or the Sniper and has the benefit of IT & ArP two clicks into the dial allowing it to eat an enemy pog and then get into its sweet spot (maybe we stole the design from the Steel Wolves). ;) On the other hand, the LT slings two pogs that, when placed just under 4" apart in the 10 and 4 clock positions on an enemy base, will ONLY miss on a horrible roll drifting in the 4 direction. Knowing this has allowed me to play a pair of LTs and keep a pair of pogs on my opponents fatty for essentially the whole game. Each unit definitely has its place.
Hey, thanks for all the input, i agree about the yasha being better and sadly I have no hadurs. I would like to point out in my original post i said i like playing regimental pure, I know people frown on this but our areas lack of serious players makes it a luxury I can afford:classic: On the stats the hadur does look great but I love the reach on the sniper and the LT, also because I wantto pog anywhere, anytime!:devious:
Oh and by the way has anyone seen or heard anything from that kurita guy that always puffs hot air in here without an invite:p
Now you have two VTOLs, an infantry pack, two arty and a big mech. Excellent decision and no one's going to be happy facing that. :)
I'd be. :) I rarely face Falcons these days.

:classic: It's nice to know that you got your long overdue win, Goreb. With me getting the better of Kuritans most of the time, I knew impossible was just a word. Was rooting for you, to tell the truth.
I'm playing the May storyline tomorrow. one of the rules is that units with JJ increase their movement by one half. I'm going to run a PHI with Chris Chapman as the pilot and Evade as gear. 15" movement, plus eight for the special rule, makes a PHI with a 23" jump. The Merciless faction pride is only ten points on a 300 point game, so I'm thinking that a 23" MDFA is worth centering an army around, although a Goshawk with a 221 pilot wouldn't need the Faction Pride and would still have an 18" MDFA (not to mention Zellbrigen and a longer dial).
We'll be running the same scenario tomorrow and had a lot of thoughts on that matter.
I admit that both the Goshawk and PHI are powerful. Nothing more can be said of the former; support is important here. The PHI can be deployed in pairs (with Valenti for the other one) w/ FP and MDFA from a long way. However, I can think of something that could ruin their effectiveness. RotS Violator with Agility and YLW w/ non-LE Danai are two of the units I have in mind. They won't care for MDFA damage and they can drill/hack you to ineffectiveness in a single turn.
The RotS Violator can still run around with Evade and make devastating RS attacks. High def is a plus. Add VTOL/infy as support and you'll virtually have a special attack-immune build.
YLW has JJ and can reach a far 21" when equipped with Overcharger up to a max of 24" when risking heat rolls. With arty to force the issue, she could hack one mech to pieces while sacrificing an arty for points.
If Black Rose is around, things would be different. I heard she was dominating for the scenario.

I don't know about that, using Black Rose would have you down by 1pt & a good baser can stop you from DFA'ing. With only a 15 inch range for MDFA, I'd go for a 23 inch MDFA.
Then again, Black Rose would have an advantage with having more clicks of life & still have a good Attack to shoot & burn a Mech with Energy after it DFA's. or being DFA'ed.
Ok it's obvious we are going to use more of the old DFA mechs rather then a loki, now lets get to the really cool stuff: BA's! I'm so xited my brain is going to explode! I might just run the whole army with just BA's , can't decide which to take! I mean now our T-birds and purifiers have 15 speed, on a standerd table this is going to be awesome! I was thinking one jumpy mechs and as many T-birds as I have, opinions?
