Yeah, light's down the road. Fire, Ice, Mental, Gadget, Nature and Sorcery are solidly in the game right now, in addition to the Iconic powerset. More will be added; not sure what the timeline is.
from watching those videos this game is sounding more and more like a regular video game where you team up with someone then a MMPORPG or whatever they are called. You have to follow certain story lines and once in one your pretty much stuck in it until the end. Don't get me wrong I am looking forward to the game but I am not seeing what the $15+ a month is really getting us.

An MMO effectively IS a game where you team up with people and follow a storyline. Well, EVE isn't, but most of 'em are. One of the main differences with DCUO is its story is supposed to be richer than most.
As for where the money goes, server costs and continual development/updates.
Some of it looks amazing, next generation everything after will copy it kind of amazing; but only 6 power sets, and a storyline that all classes follow? That sounds uncomfortably limited.
If they crank out updates every few months they might be ok. I'm not a get to 50 and then roleplay type though, I need new character options and new missions or I burn out and move on.

Here's the good, the bad and the ugly:
Power sets: there's Fire, Ice, (tanking emphasis), gadget, mental (control emphasis), nature, sorcery (healing emphasis) and the Iconic tree, which has powers like super strength.
Each set has two main branches; some, like, fire (which has Combustion and Immolation) seem pretty much the same deal, whilst others (nature springs to mind) have more varied abilities. In general, I believe the deal is a DPS branch and a specialty branch; all power sets are supposed to be able to fight, even the healers.
There's an overarching story involving Brainiac, but each mentor is supposed to have an ongoing story specific to them as well, which gives you an initial six storylines.
There's supposed to be character specific content every month (probably read: additions to the Iconic PvP roster) and major content additions periodically (probably read: expansions a la space) Don't know if the latter is a free DL or a box.
You won't have to worry about leveling to 50! There's 30 initial levels. No word on how long it's estimated to hit cap. They've noted that they have a lot of emphasis on endgame. (raids, PvP, MMO stuff like that)
I like the idea of co-op... I'm not fond of the PvP thing.
Question, is the GL powerset considered Iconic? I honestly was thinking of making a Power Ring user.
There's a set called Hard Light that sounds like the GL equivalent; all I know about that is it won't be in Beta, which prooobably means it won't be ready for launch. I think things like earth and electric powers are in the same boat.
will they have martial artists? or is that equivalent to the tank? I dunno, I've never MMO'ed
Every character picks a weapon -- guns, swords, etc. You can pick bare hands as your weapon, which is as close to a dedicated martial arts set as there is. Right now, the only power that really jibes with a martial arts concept is gadgets, a la Batman. Gadgets is a control power -- it probably focuses on things like freezing enemies in place, making them weaker and the like.
I would like to buy this for PS3, but I am going to pass if I have to "Subscribe" to anything or pay a monthly cost. Is there going to BE a monthly subscription cost, or do we not know that yet?
