Originally posted by Manchine Oh ya Longshot Vetern. I like Longshot but thats just to much.
You have to consider a few things about how he made the dial.
1) He is 60 points making him a very expensive utility piece.
2) He only does 1 damage. Granted he has 3 targets but still he isn't a top threat piece.
3) Yes, he has PC and SS down the dial, but he is almost unhealable even with 2 rolls. Most medics will need an 8 to hit Longshot on his worst clix.
4) Longshots offensive luck runs out quick, he starts with the lucky shot 11 but drops fairly quick with a low of 6.
The only thing I would change at all is maybe take away a click or two of Super Senses. Check out the Rookie and Exp also. Nice logical dial progressions. You have the utility only Prob controller in Destiny and Scarlet Witch, we need another PC fig that can mix it up a bit like the Black Cat. But Longshot just isn't going to be able to eliminate opponents and I think that is reflected well.
Certain things are fine on his dial. I wont dicuss it Publicly unless Wlydestar (sorry if I get your name wrong) puts it up on the board. Some people dont like discussing or being told they are wrong. I said my piece and I will leave it unless Wyldstar(same as above ) says we can discuss it. There's been several times in my Character Creation Threads that I have been wrong and I change it. Other people can give insight that you just never thought of.
Hope ya understand.
On a side note. I thnk I started my CHaracter Creation Threads about the same time you started your site. If I am not mistaken.
4) Developer sorted views
It'd be easier to find a certain set of dials, per user
5) Change the New category so that it is not a selectable category. It will list the figs that are new to the system by date. (say last 10 days or so)
I, personally, like to check out what people have added every couple of days. This would make it a lot easier.
8) Stats page
It'd be nifty
6) Ratings system
It'd be interesting to see what people think of your dials
7) Dial Feedback
Ditto, but not as important
1) Dial Top printing
I have Adobe Illustrator templates, so this isn't an issue for me.
2) Point generator
I do it all personally, by hand, so again, not an issue.

As I said earlier, I always welcome public input in regards to my projects, as long as the opinion is well thought out and reasonable. With Manchine that won't be a problem. I've seen many of his posts and can't recall a time he's ever simply dissed something "because it sucks".
As for my defense of Veteran Longshot, well, it seems as though urlmaker has been doing a pretty good job of that in my absence already. I gave him high attack and defense stats for very straightforward reasons. He's just that lucky. He always hits what he aims at. It's not about skill with him, it's just who he is. Bullseye himself can be shooting at him, and a piece of masonry would fall from the building above to impact the bullet before it got to Longshot. Injury doesn't change the nature of a person to much extent, though fatigue will usually effect performance. He keeps his high defense because his luck is ballancing out his fatigue. Same with the attack value, but to a lesser extent. He doesn't deal out much damage despite the triple attack. Longshot simply HAS to have a triple attack. He'd have more if he only had the fingers for it! (Longshot only has three fingers and a thumb, for those of you who never noticed.) His high attack and defense values make him very costly for a piece that can inflict so little damage. I used a points generator program to calculate the points. I don't know who's system it uses, only that it's an easy and fast program that works in much the same way as urlmakers site, but without the ability to create the dial. I don't think it uses Retardog's formula, but I'm not sure. I'm far to busy/lazy to calculate the cost by hand. Retardog's formula may make him even more expensive for all I know. If so, I can live with that.
I gave him high attack and defense stats for very straightforward reasons. He's just that lucky. He always hits what he aims at.
The Defense I have no problem. Isnt his ability to Hit and always hitting his luck. IF you roll and miss you have your PC to reroll. If he had a 9 attack (which is what I have discussed with others) to hit defense 16 is 61%. Adding a reroll in there increases it to about 80% hitting. So him hitting most of the time (he has missed against Wolverine and Spidey) is still there.
Now the last part His Dial. He is not made to take a lot of punishment. 6 Klixs of health is the Max I would think. Now his Rookie and Experienced I would say 5 Klixs of Health. In his Veteran I would say he's equal in Health to Black Cat, Cyclops, Bullseye, Daredevil, Elektra and others but you get the idea.
Thats it. The unique I would consider that the XP Elektra. LOL
Fair enough Manchine. So fair in fact, that I agree with you in part. Longshot should absolutely be no more than 6 clix total. His biology isn't alien enough to warrant any extra endurance, and luck doesn't factor into that.
As to the Attack value, I'm happy with it as it is. Spidey can use his SS to dodge, plus he should have a Defense value of at least 18. Hitting Wolverine is easy. He rarely bothers to dodge anything, especially a bunch of piddly throwing knives. He has a bad habit of letting people hit him since he knows it'll just grow back. That's why all of his figures have such low Defense values.
I'll be making the changes shortly.
On another note, I feel I must question your math. If a 9 Attacks a 16 Defense, you need to roll a 7 or better to hit. The most you can roll is a 12, but there is no 1 and 2 is a critical miss. Wouldn't that make a roll of 7 about 50/50? Anything above 7 should have less than a 50/50 shot at hitting, right? I'll be the first to admit that I'm LOUSY at math, but this seems simple to me. Maybe that's just because I'm bad a math, but I'm interested in hearing how you arived at your answer. Knowledge is power, and I can always use more power. If the formula is long and complicated, don't bother posting it. I'll just stare at it and go, "Uhhh... okay...?":cross-eye

This is how many combinations you can get with each dice roll on two 6sided dice. For Example getting 3 you can get a 1 and a 2 or a 2 or a 1. I know its the same number but each die can roll a 1 or a 2.
roll a 2 only 1 Odds 1/36 odds of rolling this or higher 36/36
roll a 3 only 2 Odds 2/36 odds of rolling this or higher 35/36
roll a 4 only 3 Odds 3/36 odds of rolling this or higher 33/36
roll a 5 only 4 Odds 4/36 odds of rolling this or higher 30/36
roll a 6 only 5 Odds 5/36 odds of rolling this or higher 26/36
roll a 7 only 6 Odds 6/36 odds of rolling this or higher 21/36
roll a 8 only 5 Odds 5/36 odds of rolling this or higher 15/36
roll a 9 only 4 Odds 4/36 odds of rolling this or higher 10/36
roll a 10 only 3 Odds 3/36 odds of rolling this or higher 6/36
roll a 11 only 2 Odds 2/36 odds of rolling this or higher 3/36
roll a 12 only 1 Odds 1/36 odds of rolling this or higher 1/36
At 7 if it was 50/50 it would be 18/36 but its 21. This is the simplist I can put it in.
Ok, the user rating system is fleshed out. Users (when logged in) can place a vote by clicking on the star number that they think the dial represents. A loose criteria should be followed.
1 star - This dial wasn't well thought out. Inacurate or unrealistic.
2 star - This dial may have gotten something right but missed the mark on much of the concept. The concept may even be solid but an unplayable dial.
3 star - This dial may be playable but is missing key components or powers for the fig. Maybe the numbers are too high or low.
4 star - This should be a technically acurate dial with a few minor adjustments this would be wizkids quality.
5 star - This is the dial that should be made for this figure. It needs no changes and you would like to see this fig on the table. Wizkids quality.
Please don't make judgements for or against favorite/disliked characters in the ratings. This is rating this persons ability to create and acurate and playable dial and should not reflect your opinion of the character or creator personally. Many of the figs in the system don't have a comic counterpart. Don't feel like you shouldn't rate these. Rate based on the dial compared to description or playability (would you play the dial?) You can only vote once for a figure, but you may change your vote at any time by clicking on a new star. There is currently no indicator for your current vote but I may add one later. There will also be a vote review screen where you can view the vote history. (This is so you know if someone hates you or if you have a fan) The review screen is not yet complete.
I've done some voting as well, though I'm far from done. So many to review! There are some great ones, some awful ones, and some that just need a slight adjustment. I've even spotted a few of my own weak spots that I need to adjust sometime.
So far, I've been focusing on the Star Wars figures since that's my speciality. The biggest problem I see with many of the Star Wars clix are with the Force users, especially the Jedi. Many of them have been given hefty amounts of Mind Control, Psychic Blast and Telekinesis. While at first thought, they may seem appropriate, you have to keep in mind the restrictions the Jedi must abide by. The Force is for knowledge and defense- NEVER to attack. That means a Jedi can't throw an object at someone using TK, or use Psychic Blast, or use Mind Control to make an opponent attack one of his own. It's out of character and inappropriate. If you want to play that way, you should use a Sith. They have no such restrictions since they have no moral code. There also seem to be extremely large amounts of Probability Control amoung the Star Wars category. While Jedi and Sith can sometimes see into the future, it's not the kind of info that they can use the aid their comrades in battle. Super Senses is more accurate. Non-Force users such as Han Solo and Leia certainly have no business with Probability Control.
