So Loki brings fortitude. Not a bad solution, really, given that Loki's ranged mastermind allows him to shrug off the damages. It still sounds like the game overall would be a losing one for the Loki player: a smart Spidey will just plug away at Loki with HSS pot-shots since Loki has to stay within 4 of his army of MJ to survive, and even if it takes him all game, Spidey is whittling down the Loki and gaining points for his side each shot. You've managed to keep Spidey from a one turn win, but do you have any chance of winning yourself? Loki has 200 or so points left to play with in this scenario, but Spidey will just destroy any figure other than Loki that's actually a threat on that first turn.
Depending on map, destroying the phone booth could be harder than it sounds, and ultimately all it does is change the game from a 1 turn win into a 2 turn win. Bat&Cat do the same thing.
I think a TK chain/Nova Blast Bomb could win this match? Could take out all the pogs and Big Figure in one shot on the first turn of actual action, conceivably,a nd leave Spidey on his own (and possibly hurt as well depending on positioning and your nova blaster's range) against the full force of your team. Depending on the rest of your team he still has a decent chance, he's a heck of a powerful figure, but it's a really significant hit his team has taken and it's your game to lose at that point.
I can't accept a BFC as a viable counter to this strategy because the Spidey player can Ordinary Day. Sure it's only once a tourney, but so is whatever you brought (Disbanded for instance) to shut him down. You get your one, he gets his one, and it'll always be O-day.

Reason: To address BFC suggestions.
Read the thread dude. It really hasn't been. Mystics is the biggest problem, but Vine came up with a decent solution to that.
A very cool way to get past that.

Ok let me try this again here in my really tired state.
Against a theme team, you will not win map roll more than likely, and someone will take you to a big open map with no walls (if they have half a brain). Without the phone booth there (cause hopefully this half brained individual is smart enough to destroy the phone booth), you can get screwed over if:
-Big Figure dies (possible since you quite possibly be first, and the other player gets to act first with no immunity)
-since this is Golden Age...someone could Disbanded you...and IF they play a theme team, ignore an ordinary day. It takes care of your Mystics problem, but makes your idea take longer, and really slows down the whole thing.
-Someone Pulse Waves Big Figure (Nova Blast even in Golden) or gets LoS to Outwit him.
-YOUR DICE HATE YOU THAT DAY.
Killing the Phone booth is the most logical step in slowing this down, then, I would go after Big Figure if it were me. Without him, its a tentpole team with lots of fodder. Here's what I would do to improve it:
-Alicia/MJ is a better option as Vine suggests, but you have to keep Alicia alive for the heals obviously. I would include alot of Jarvis still so your strategy won't get slowed down much.
-MAYBE Fortitude Big Figure??? He could possibly die if someone gets LoS on him and can Outwit him. Still doesn't take care of Pulse Wave though
It seems like for the strategy, you would almost need first turn and Map to pull it off how you want. Otherwise someone could mess with you pretty badly or slow you down significantly.
Either way I would like to see it work and see what could be done to improve it. Its a really solid start.
Best i can give you
Logan:I'm an X-Man and on 2 Avengers teams.
Mockingbird:How the hell do you do that?
Logan: Multitasking. Its my mutant power. Dont tell anyone.
Well first turn immunity will help prevent that 1st turn win, as long as the opposing team stays in their original squares.
The second turn is much more of a problem.
I'm thinking that the prison map would help alleviate some of the possible free attacks, but I think someone is going to have to play this combo of figures just to see it in reality, instead of theory.
EDIT: I wasn't thinking, I forgot Spidey could see through walls. Better off with something like the space map I suppose!

I don't know. I think in general Big Figure can be a real boon to teams made up of D-List pieces/characters.
I like to play teams made up of a lot pieces, you know like Ghost, Spymaster, and Trapster, and they do get KO'd rather easy.
It would be nice to have a retaliatory power so that they can get another attack in before they're wiped out.
I don't think errata is the answer. I think it's one more thing to deal with like Ultimates Thor, the new Nightcrawler, Skrull Ms. Marvel, Namor, Earth-2 Superman, and other hyper-efficient characters.
I think it's a creative power, and it has its place in casual and serious tournaments. Cosmic Spider-Man doesn't help the situation, but if it wasn't him, it would be another piece that will be abused with Big Figure.
An errata just means that Wizkids/NECA would be pandering to the customers again, much like I believe Power Girl wasn't supposed to have Super Strength.

Prison Map does diddly against Cosmic Spidey, it actually helps this team, as it cuts down on the opponent's chances of getting to Big Figure.
Waller KOs: AA Robin, Kid Devil, Joker, Question; AW E Cap; FCBD Iron Man; Miracle/Oberon; John Stewart x2, Iron Patriot; Shatterstar; IH Herc; CW Photon & Nitro; FF Nite Owl; 10An R Thor, E Iron Man, Weapon X; FF Kilowog; Hugo Strange; Calender Man; Legion Cosmic Boy & Lightning Lad, LE Pete Wisdom
Space Map, yeah. Kid Zoom to take away HSS. As soon as Spidey is exposed, V Lockjaw can taxi Psycho-Pirate to base him. Then just pray that Spidey doesn't roll doubles for 20 attacks in a row.
Ok, i'm going to bed
My H/W link does not reflect the wants for my collection, it is a list of figures that I already have, but still "want" to play.
Futurama Suicide Booth, you only need if there is no action tokens ones
I kept waiting for someone else to make that joke at my venue Thursday night.
(Please note I was not playing the team under discussion, it was BF, mercenaries, and five or six Pogs).

You know what this thread (along with Nightcrawler) proves?
Wizkids doesn't do much playtesting, and the people who do it do a pretty piss-poor job at it.
People on these boards pick up on this stuff instantly, but it escapes the attention of the people MAKING the damn game.
Crap like this sucks the enjoyment out of the game.
Well, the thing is, are they testing only for casual "flavor" and "fun" interactions, or are they testing for possible World Championship-caliber play and World Class-teams and players? Because if the goal is for casual play, then it will right itself by the venues just having house rules or having "frowned upon" attitudes, so it doesn't matter in the end. However, if they are at all worried about Gencon World Champs and the like, then this could be a problem.
*raises hand to volunteer for their playtest group*
Again I hate to point this out again, Mystics isn't its only problem, Pulse Wave is with the simple caveat of keeping Big Figure in the blast's range. You don't even have to Nova blast if you don't want to.

If you're not designing the game with the top players in mind (whether nationally or even locally), who the heck are you designing it for?
Sure spider-man can basically keep a company going, but a truly vibrant game needs to be well balanced to thrive.
Games like this are especially important to keep balanced, because having a vibrant tournament scene keeps players interested longer
We need a toilet special object so Rorschach can flush that little menace.
Word....I was sitting here thinking "Man for a midget who gets murdered in a toilet, he sure does have a cool ability". If this combo is legal, should first round immunity be worded so that all characters(those that took actions and those that didn't) cannot be knocked back, attacked, damaged, or have powers countered(targeted). Don't think it stops this combo but does guarentee game goes at least 2 rounds.
