How very unfair and rude. I bet you would never say this to someone's face, because you wouldn't have any teeth afterwards. I'm stunned the mods allow this kind of stuff.
If you have created something, you better be prepared to take critique on your creation. ESPECIALLY if I'm paying an extortionate £9 for it.
See, that's some God-awful writing IMO. Any book which features Spider-Man, of all people, sneaking up on Charles Xavier is lousy. Toss in taking down the X-Men by himself, and you've got a steaming pile of.....something.....certainly isn't decent reading material.
Nah its fine. If you read the story its not like he stayed there and went toe to to toe witht hem. His goal was to escape and thats what he did he out manuvered them and got away. Back then the xmen were treated more like regular humans but with a special power. not like super humans with a special power. I love the part where he samcked wolverine. People dont give spidey enough credit, hes much faster than a normal human and can lift 10+ tons. He should be able to hit wolvie and send him flying.
Ever read spiderman vs. wolverine, to date its one of my favorite comics and has one of the best throw downs between 2 good guys eve, but with a solid story to boot. I wish they would do a straight to dvd of that one.

Ask Ben about how much flak I gave him over the fig, in person, at GenCon.
Quote
Ben - I'm a huge Nightcrawler fan.
Well, that explains your position.
And Ben's refusal to answer the question about whether he thinks the fig is appropriately costed is answer enough.
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.

Wow really?! Amora didn't say anything out of line or insult Ben. He is entitled to his opinion. If you are going to anything that involves others you are going to get crtisism.
As a designer myself, I would say the dial is a good design and the reasons are all there. However to me the cost of the dial is the issue, he should have cost a bit more like 92-96 points based on the other versions. However as Ben stated he had no say over the cost.
Its funny like my sig says there is a point formula but it is in need of an adjustment it seems it does not take special powers into account enough. Namor and night crawler are both examples of this.

Your sensitivity dial is broken/cranked too high.
Incidentally, I would say something like that to someone's face, with the caveat that it'd be IMO. And if someone decided to come after me physically for that...well...let's just say they better expect to lose some soft tissue.

Exactly I hate this new age sensativity to everything society. Freedom of speech or PC, pick one.
Evidence was then presented showing that the game is NOT based solely on the comics license. You then deduced from those examples that only one of them actually counts, and that the designers should only use comics material. I'm afraid I don't follow your logic.
A) I do not see how Batman Beyond is significantly different from the other characters. He has appeared in both comic and cartoons, as many other characters also have. If the issue was that he appeared in the cartoons first, then does that mean that we should not have a Harley Quinn in clix, because she was originally from the cartoons?
B) There is a significant logical leap in going from "The game is primarily based on comics." to, "The game should only be based on comics." You are welcome to have that opinion, but I do not think that you have presented significant evidence to support WHY you feel that way.
C) "The exception that proves the rule" is a phrase that has always seemed nonsensical to me. Exceptions do not prove a rule, they disprove it.
D) If you had simply said, "I would like clix to be based solely on comics.," It would be less bothersome to me than the way it was phrased, which carries a much different tone.
Decent rebuttal. Still wrong, but decent.

Joe has it right. One shouldn't take such colloquial phrases so literally.

THIS is the actual point I was driving at. If it's a comics character, stick to the actual comics material when designing it. Again, AA Batman is the only clear exception out of nearly 3500 different dials to necessitate otherwise.

But - that's not what happened here. Ben explained his design - nothing about why he should or should not be a certain number of points.

Ben - I'm a huge Nightcrawler fan. The remember first encountering him in, of all things, Spider-man and his Amazing friends. I then spent forever tracking down comics on spin racks that had the blue furry elf in them. The Kurt Wagner LE was the first LE I ever owned
I love the piece, love the dial, love the costume that I have never seen before (wasn't reading X-Men at that time). A fitting tribute to my now lost to history X-Man.
I say things like this all the time. It's called dialogue. I think there have been many, many times when the criteria as to why this is terrible dial design has been posted.
And as for "losing my teeth," someone attempting that would most likely end up in the hospital, the police station, or the first followed by the second.
I love NC, one of my favorite characters since I was 13. Doesn't make my argument anymore or less valuable from a game design standpoint.

I know Ben, and I don't think he's the kind of guy that would feed anyone their teeth. He would probably explain his position and whip your @$$ on the gaming table (but he'd do that part regardless of what you said to him).
There was a Robocop III you know (so don't be racist)
what situation are we in? the sky is falling condition has been a long term sickness in these parts, just different symptoms on diffrent days,
What are you Bens press secretary or sports agent?
Who said the sky is falling?
I just want to know more about the design process. What was the point cost on other designs he rejected? Did the point cost he tested match up with what we got in the end?
What was his approach to playtesting?
Was he trying to insure that the figure would be a great tournament piece or a balanced tournament piece?

In this case prove is supposed to mean test. The phrase has become corrupted because most people don't realize that.
To add to that...
The original meaning of the phrase is no longer there. Now its more of a toungue-in-check add on.
For example:
That movie was so awful no one likes the movie.
My brother likes the movie.
My brother has no taste in movies and thus the exception proves the rule.
Basically saying the rule is more of an overexageration metaphor then a real rule, and while I am at it I can poke fun of my brother's poor taste in movies.
