Today we are very pleased to announce the exapansion of our Star Trek offerings with the release of Star Trek HeroClix: Tactics!
Star Trek HeroClix: Tactics puts you in command of Federation and Klingon vessels and is 100% compatible with the HeroClix core rules system. Tactics is intended as a standalone game system and will exist outside of the Modern and Golden Age tournament environments. What this mean is Tactics operates by the same rules and Powers and Abilities card that your standard HeroClix game is played with, but is meant to be played as its own game. [...]
I liked Star Trek Fleet Captains and I think it is an amazing game by its own.
But with Star Trek Heroclix Tactics I see it more easy to add the Borg Cube, DS9 and other ships with their size in consideration. Making a game that works.
why startreck????? startreck $%+$!!! I would preferred starwars, it has a lot of space ships and just imagine the battles between the empire and the avengers!!!!
let's not forget the xmen/ original series and xmen/next gen crossover comics
still, tactics needs to stay seperate. although I will probably have my federation ships face foom in a home game since i don't own galactus
Also lets forget the early Marvel comics star trek stories that followed the motion picture that ran for 18 issues than dc got the rights they had two volumes vol1 had 56issues with 3 annuals vol2.had 80 issues , lets not go into star trek tng issues or marvel paramount comics line.
Or the early gold key comics from the 60's so i would Star Trek is relevant in heroclix

Fantasy Flight is releasing a Star Wars starship battle game (premiered at Gencon) fairly soon. They have the dibs on the SW licence.
This will be better for Wizkids IMO.

Trek Tactics hooked me on heroclix!
Plus, there have been more Star Trek comic crossovers, at least to my knowledge.
I'm totally withholding judgement on these until I see some dials. How their stats look, and how viable the power combinations are (will there be special powers?), will really determine whether this is TRULY compatible with clix as a whole, or if they're only playable in any real capacity as a standalone game.
For the record, though, I am excited. I'm perplexed that they went with ships and not characters, but I'm down for whatever.
Just throwing this out there but I have an undeveloped idea:
What about a scenario where each HeroClix team is on board a space ship.
You run ship to ship combat per whatever Star Trek rules there are but you could also have:
Ramming ships allow for boarding so characters can go head to head
Beam down onto various planets (ie different maps) to collect certain things and battle head to head with other teams that have beamed down.
Beam aboard opposing ships to take them over.
There is more to come once I've thought on it more (and others share) but one of the [many] things that always made Star Trek superior to Star Wars is the atmosphere Star Trek used of Earth's "Age of Discovery".
Definitely a potential cross-over idea that doesn't dilute either property.
You could require teams to have:
Commander (Leadership)
Science Officer (Scientist)
Security (Brute)
Medical Officer (Support / Scientist)
I'm sure there is more...
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

Sorry dude, didn't anyone tell you. Star Wars isn't cool any more. George Lucas has successfully diluted the franchise until it has become loved only by a handful of fanboys and kids (I still like the original trilogy actually).
Thanks to JJ Abrams, Trek is the new coolness!
Christ did not come to condemn the world, but to save it.
