Well, I think we need to make some adjustments to our expectation here. We wanted;
*Spaceship battles without paying $130 a booster for spaceship sized colossals.
*Heroclix dial compatibility
Yeah, Hal Jordan punching out a spaceship that's should be 1,000 times his size but is actually smaller than him is dumb; but the pieces make sense in context in their own set, and could still be played in a regular game if you are so inclined. They really couldn't do this any other way.
Not really, though. Any GL worth his salt should be able to put up a decent fight against an average starship. Characters like Doctor Strange, the Thing, etc... could always come up with a way to disable or just destroy one outright.
If I searched hard enough I could find a Spider-man comic where he was on a space ship and probably helped to wreck the thing. Did he punch it out? Not likely. Would he have found a way to disable the controls, turn off the shields, reverse the polarity, etc? Sure he would've.
There are many ways for heroes to disable or defeat a ship without punching it. Hell, the Silver Surfer routinely flies right through the things. I imagine Superman has probably done the same thing once or twice.
May all your hits be crits!

Okay, so I looked at the starter solicitation and according to that there is no mention of any tokens in the starter.
Seriously, why do you keep doing this WizKids?
A starter is supposed to provide a new player with everything they need to play. If one of the ideas behind this sort of product or Lord of the Rings is to get new players who aren't into superheroes into HeroClix, why don't you give them everything they need to actually play the game?
It's not like there aren't figures in both Lord of the Rings and Star Trek that can hold objects.
On top of that, how many HeroClix object tokens are really suitable for a ship-to-ship game like Star Trek? It's bad enough with having all of four or five non-special objects that fit the Lord of the Rings feel. It's going to look stupid when starships are attacking each other with manhole covers, gum ball machines, and hot dog carts.
Not really, though. Any GL worth his salt should be able to put up a decent fight against an average starship.
This reminds me of the explanations of scale back when I was playing Battlefleet Gothic (a Games Workshop product)...
No, the starships weren't actually half the diameter of the planet. The actual size/location of the ship was the "pin" on the flight base. The ship figures were merely representations of that ship in space.
Viewed from that perspective, it's perfectly reasonable to see space-faring heroes out there mixing it up with starships. The Dark Phoenix took down a Shi'ar starcruiser in just two hits. I imagine other cosmic characters like Superman, GL, Silver Surfer, Thanos, etc. could do much the same thing.
"Some say the glass is half empty, some say it's half full. But I say ...are you going to drink that?"
I can't wait to run these in some space battle with the Green Lantern Corps or with the new next Marvel Set. There are plenty of Cosmic power houses that take on whole fleets.
Meant to be it's own game, yeah I understand but since it's compatible, there are many more options open. Including the option to simply not buy/play them for all those neigh sayers.
Options are nice ^^
I do agree that it would have been nice to rename the powers but keep the colors the same. Super strength on a starship is a bit silly and lazy, but Ill manage.
I'm not knocking this thing that hard, really. I mean, sure, using the Heroclix rules as is is fairly brilliant in a way.
But overall, to me, the brilliant bits are overshadowed by the really dumb bits.
There's also this assumption in here that everyone's an idiot, which I won't dispute, but you really think that building this game identically to Heroclix, but changing the symbols to make it at least internally logical for a Star Trek game would have suddenly enfeebled the gaming masses? It could still clearly be "Heroclix" engine-wise, and yet clearly NOT be Heroclix official-wise, if officially proclaiming them to be non-mixible is the company line. Which it seems to be.
You'd still have all the opportunity to wackily blend them to your heart's content, but have a basis for the split they are going to arbitrarily be suggesting.
And that's not even suggesting they make the effort to devolop some more interesting, theme-appropriate powers or whatever. I can do fine without that.
It's just, is it Heroclix or is it not? If it's not, make it not, at least somehow. And if it IS, make it Heroclix [completely with the stupidity that comes along with a ship on a dial next to any other Heroclix figure ever].
#### or get off the pot.
That said... I'm still getting a Reliant and I'm going to add a little antenna on the top so that it's now a remote-controlled war-toy.

Like that time Superman teamed up with the Enterprise, aided by Cortana, to fight Galactus.
i really hate it when our minis aren't in scale. It happens all the time with all the tall wolverines and tiny hulks but this is a little too far. very disappointing..
Again.... the idea was to use the same game system so it would be familiar for players in addition to easy to teach and to learn for new players. Throwing out the game system or heavily altering it would be silly. It's throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Ehm, how is this different from what I said?

Well, as we know from "humanoid" HeroClix, the text of a power doesn't necessarily fit in with the abilities of a character, hence we got Named Powers. I'll hazard a wild guess here, but _most_ abilities of a starship will not be intuitively represented by the descriptions of the humanoid PAC. Easy fix: keep the powers, change the names. No rules complications, no compatibility issues. Nothing, except tons of flavour.
This could have been the awesomeness that is "Useless belt" all over again. But it isn't, hence it's rather disappointing.
But yeah, I'm always expecting too much of others.
You might be right, but FWIW Memory Alpha (STU Wiki) disagrees with you:
Crap, now I have to go find the book this is in.

The Enterprise A is a refit of the Constitution Class. It is one of the few refits, but it is still considred Constitution class. It even says that in the Encyclopedia, but I'll give you the Memory Alpha entry.
See above...

I think we'd have figured that out from the rest of your post.

NEW HEROCLIX MOTTO: Nothing Solves problems in Heroclix like Superman and a Dumpster.
Hopefully we rule that these won't be in Heroclix battles. If so, I will be all for picking some up to have large scale battles. I just don't want to see these integrated into regular clix.
Though I am not going to run Frodo with Spiderman anyway. But having Frodo attack Mordor as it's own stand alone game is amazing. Same will be with Star Trek.
