At the end, I pointed to the bassist (Mike D'Antonio) and yelled "You're the man!". He saw me, smiled, and then walked over and handed me a pick (which glows in the dark!), and then handed one to my friend.
After the show, I was in an about 30 minute long conversation with the TIE bassist. He gave me and my friend a copy of their CD, and told me if I'm in LA to look him up. Super cool dude, and a gearhead like me so we had a lot to talk about.
My friend made out like a bandit. He got a drumstick, the pick, the setlist, and a bottle of water (plus that CD at the end). Overall, near perfect night.
This is exactly why I like small venues. It makes the concerts much more intimate and the musicians easily accessible.
Wishing for competitive Judge Dredd figures for Modern Age...WizKids are you listening?!?!

Exactly. Also of note was the many times the singer came up to the barrier (which had a step/bench on the band's side) and just let the crowd hug all over him, give him high 5's, and sing along. Also, 2 or 3 times he was crowd surfing while he was singing. The dude just loves the audience.

I miss the one small venue that was near me that always brought in the metal acts.

How perception beyond ordinary sight turned into a rusty sheriff's badge is beyond my imagination.
Thanks you for increasing my hip lingo vocabulary.
I didn't know what "rusty sheriff's badge" meant, but given that this is the LPC I kinda had a hunch. Voila, new lingo to use at the family reunion.
