sweet, BR gets a really kewl unit....but shuldnt BR get the elite verson since Bannson makes it? Oh well, its just another sweet addition to my forces...
I think I saw the MKI on the back of a promo box at the local game shop. If you haven't seen one of these boxes they say Booster but they are empty and about 20 inches tall. The front says Counter Assault but the sides and back are basically large versions of a booster.
Anyway, it shows a Raider in "Industrial yellow" with a hand instead of an AC. The sculpt is incomplete as it is missing the saw blades seen on the MKII (but it has the housing for the blades).
Better yet the box shows a Shoden wheeled tank in Bannson's colors...
Best of all, it shows a top view of the Bannson's RaiderMKII, dial and all. Prim damage of 3 melee with HTH. 2ndary is ballistic: range, i don't recall but it has AntiP as the SE, and evade for speed. We wondered if it was for real, an ICE powered mech with that attack!
kinra, I would expect SS to come out with some more 16" ranges before the SH do. Or course anything can happen, but I would expect top contenders for extended ranges would be
Wedjat: that looked more like a house liao AGROmech II to me
and the box dials are never correct for the unit (with them using protoypes or outright false dials)

Kinra: What protomechs?? and range wasnt a highlander trait, its a steel wolf trait. Sadistic and Yulri anyone (still great for picking apart dropships outside of range)
I think the mark one was the original concpet for a new mech with a fusion reacter. But when that didnt work out it became a Ice battlemech concept. Thus the Mark 2
People asked for more and better BattleMechs. WizKids gives you just that, except having (in the fiction) an ICE engine, and there's much whining, moaning, and gnashing of teeth.
raverrn
Does anybody else wonder where the Raider MkI is?
I just got Back from my comic shop and they had an oversized promo box for CA. The mk 1 is yellow and missing it's leaf blower hah hah. Even funnier is the stats they have listed for the BR mk 2.
Originally posted by headache62 When WK mentions TSM and Ballistic ammo running out, we must remember that COUNTERASSAULT WILL HAVE NEW RULES! For all we know, there could be a new system where EVERY mech might run out of ammunition during a battle (hence my love of energy weapons - darn infantry).
Battlechimp: Protomechs were introduced in 3067 or so, during the last battles against Smoke Jaguar. Sort of "Mech-powered, but smaller". The Raider Mark II seems to resemble that.
And although the only 16" range 'mechs so far have been Steel Wolf LEs, Highlander units have tended to have the longest range in their class (Centurion, Koshi, Donar, AgroMech Mod-B) in exchange for their VAST deficiencies in most other areas (ie. everything but defense).
Defense and Range are the only discenible advantages of HL units, so it would be very disappointing not to see them have one of the 16" ranges released in this set. Sucked a *lot* that Naomi Katina didn't have 16" range.
Well i have a theory about the ice from what i hear and have scene on the 20in box at one of the local venues.
the 3 ice mechs are
Raider (melee only)
Raider MKI (i hear it has LRM's)
and Raider MKII (with the auto cannon)
