The first pieces to be retired will include all of the Maxims, the Saxons, the Fenrir battle armor and some other good pieces like the SS special infantry.

Loss of these units will severely limit the ability of infantry to "get up the field" to engage heavy artillery armies. J37's are much slower and vulnerable to basing. Players who want to transport will now be forced to search for Garrots.

Second point, WK just encouraged us to buy tons of figures from DA and FFE to help fill out our armies for FACTION WARS. I would have skipped the whole thing had I known that the units I was buying would shortly be "banned", regardless of the former press release.

When the Padillas are banned along with Kenneth, the Arrow iv prices will rise even higher, and the chance of a new player being competitive will sink to near zero.

henry, I must ask: Do you know what units will be in Falcon's Prey? Do you know what FAQ updates will be released between now and the first set retirements? You seem to know these things, so please enlighten us.

And I am. Very. I have won my last 6 apperances and I have only been to 10. I have many darkage and espically FFE. Antonia Chinn anyone? I love her. As for re-released units. When I see garbage like that I want to spit. What about the RETIREMENT. If you just release power units that make your old power units playable why retire them in the first place? Money. Well I don't care about the size I want the units actually play tested. I never did like playing with POGS. Value to Collectors huh? Well I am not a seller on E-bay. I don't care about the value those people place on my things. I want their value to the players I want to trade with to be intact. Who would trade me a nice Atlas that is going to be old and re-released with the new BASE set. That is where the value will now lie. SO the Nice pretty mech I just paid for is the red headed stepchild and soon only in use while I pull him out of his box and place him into another, larger box. Hey think there are kids out there who like cheap plastic toys that have little collectors value? I will have to see...

However, I think it's happening by default, at least at our venue. I'm not seeing many earlier units in armies these days. And I've got a lot of other stuff to spend money on, like food, clothing, shelter, and such, so I'm not spending much on MW anymore.

Although I did use Dereck Hasbani to pretty good effect in the LI marquee... but that's another story.

For the time being I say "No". I have not read the transcript yet, but set retirement was one of the reasons I "walked away from" many games.

I'll say yes (that means I'm okay with it, right? I've lost track...), if only because I can't possibly judge a situation I haven't experienced. I'm not convinced WK won't screw this up, but I'm not convinced they will, either.

Until we get a new base set, I believe any decision is totally premature.

Ummm . WE don't know that. What we have is the intended retirement schedule for MK. As it is currently described, we have base set and 3 expansion for MK. Ok, if you want to try to bring that to MW, when the people in charge of this have not given specific information feel free. But reading the press release and Draddogs statements makes me think it is toooooo early to make these assumptions (you do know what assumption means right? Not being degratory, it makes an ### out of u and umption.)

and these things will not be replaced right? How do you know? You don't. There very well may be replacements, rereleased maxims, giggens, transports meaning you can play with your DA units in campaigns. See the FAQ and online chat.

Retirement is not banning. But lets not get into the semantics war. How did WK encourage you to buy figures? You needed a 1200 point faction pure army. I already had that or was really close anyways. ( I believe many individuals had something close to that unless they were reallllllly new.) Many people wanted specific units, to have multiples for the faciton war. That is on them.

And how many new pieces from FP, or the next set do you know of for certain? Hmmmm? None. We have at least a year before this retirement actually effects us. It is tooooo early to make these statements without an facts to back up this continued doom and gloom sessions.

My point was these toys were worthless when you bought them, except for their ability to entertain. That is the whole purpose of this game. There is supposed to be a collectable market for them as well. Ok... But for something to be collectable someone must want to buy it. Have you looked at ebay just a couple of weeks ago? I'd say 75% of the things being sold there were not bidded on. If 3/4 of the items offered are not being sought, is that very collectable? Nothing has changed in the last 2 weeks.

Thank you sooooo much for putting words in my mouth. Never once did I tell you to SUCK IT UP. OR to STOP WHINING. I perfectally understand the anger, and other attitudes towards wizkids over this. I responded to your points in your post.

That might be why this proposed change scares you so much. You have your units, you do not want to change, you know what works for you. again I understand this, I brougth up 7 points trying to soothe your attitude. And yet you still want to be angry. Pardon me for trying to help you see this isn't the end of this game.

but you did bring up a point. You have been in 10 tournaments, and won 6 so WERE YOU ENTERTAINED? Would you have been even if there was no prize other than winning? If you could, then you can ask your venue to schedule unrestricted, and you still get to play those older units.

Again and again, I try only to fail. Question for you though.

Do you know what units will be released in the next 2 sets? How about the types, not even specific units, just the type? No. me neither. We have a YEAR, and we get to see how this proposed change will be done in MK, and see how the game goes from that change.

I will apologize for putting words into your mouth. I did feel attacked by you though and just about the most common answer being toted out by ones who support this is exactly that, just about word for word. As for retirement not being a ban. Well if an item is not allowed in standard supported use then I think that is a ban. Re releasing old units as new units is definatly an aweful idea. I have probably been quite lucky in many of my draws and I may have a chance to pull one of my old units out of a booster in a future release. But I think it is wrong that I should have to. I may be mostly angry at the fact that this was suddenly released information and said it would help people like me. How? How does this help me at all? I will still have one guy bring Arnis and a couple of Heli's. Another will bring in some artillery. And yet another will bring in Tank Drop from Hades. All units from LI and CA of course. While myself being the newest player at my venue generally does well using some nice older units. From Erin Jonston to Derek, even some SMI destroyers and such. I can use these units not because they are power units but because they are what I have. But when this comes out I guess I will have to go back to my 2 Targe unit and hope no one gets too angry at me for playing that cheese. Really when all is said and done the ones this helps the least is the ones WK likes to say it is doing this for. I hate people feeding me lines like that. So I will find a computer game and wait till summer when I can go out and play some real games. And then Fall for football season. GO PANTHERS!!!!

Well, I cannot explain it, but at the Venues that I sponsored (3) People ONLY show up to play if there is an LE on the line. I hate that, I don't know what to do about that, but UNsupported does NOT work around here. It is nearly impossible to get a pick-up (fun) game going. There has been way too much arguing over WizKids' rule interpretations, and disagreement or just plain hatred over those same rulings.
I hate to beat a dead horse, but I want to see something happen that fixes the problems that WE PLAYERS are aware of. I have said it before, but, here goes again....

This has become like American Politics. The Official Powers that Be are fixing problems that WE are not even aware of. WE give Newbies enough great and competitive stuff, that they usually kick our butts within the first 5 games they play in. Why can't we spend ALL of this energy fixing the real problems? Oh, I forgot, when we are listened to, it usually seems like we are NOT saying what we meant. At least that is the way the solution makes us feel.
WK, you guys seem to try really hard. I have always defended you, as much as I could. But, I will call foul if I perceive one. I forgive alot, even tho it is not my place to do so, but you guys don't seem to really have a grasp of what WE want. Without WE, you guys get to find another line of work.
