As to whether it's broken or not...that highly depends on the actual stats of the mech itself. Also, remember it's still in playtest and numbers/abilities could change before its final release. Go back and look at the initial reports for the Liao abilities and see how they changed from what we initially saw reported, and what we eventually got.

Hopefully WK drops only the playtesters who leaked this information, and not the entire playtesting program.
To the people who leaked this information to a certain board (you know who you are), you either violated your NDA, or your playtesting friends violated it when they shared info with you.
Companies don't like their secrets being shared, no matter how insignificant they may seem - and they usually take steps to prevent such leaks from happening again.
If WK rolls back their playtesting program, we'll know why.
Forget future set retirement, DF and SW getting continually screwed over in set after set after Dark Age is going to get me to quit the bloody game. And don't give me that "But they got the coolest stuff in DA", because that doesn't float. Swordsworn got the lions share in DA, and that's all there is to it.
You think, "Hey, I'll pick up the Republic as a backup faction", then BOOM, no ROTS in Counterassault. I bloody give up!
This is it, while I plan on collecting Jade Falcon stuff in the new set, if they screw DF again, it's over.
I mean, how can you expect to keep faction minded players, after announcing set retirement, and then implementing a policy that jacks up individual factions in expansions!? That's just bad business buddy, bad business.

Well said eMouse. It seems the founder of that site and the Banned One have access to the sheet. I hope WK fries them.
don't take it the wrong way, but it seems to me that you guys just look for something to complain about. every announcement wizkids makes you guys just whine and complain for pages and pages. if you hate the game that much, QUIT. i don't want to have to read your 6 pages of petty bickering to find one decent post!

I disagree since we have a very good idea of the range of 'Mech stats and from the LE Gyrfalcon preview, we have an idea that JF will not be radically outside that range. We know that the JF 'Mech attack stats are probably going to be in the 10-13 range (maybe 11 as a median). We know right now what 'Mech defenses are for existing units (i.e. the ones JF will be attacking) and these are between 18-24 (median probably around 20-21).
So, a 10-attack 'Mech trying to DFA Geoff Bekker at his sweet spot needs a 16. The expectation value of 4D6 is 14, so this is not a likely hit but the odds are still good enough to make it worth a try. An 11-attack 'Mech trying to hit a 21-defense unit needs a 12 on 4D6 (76% chance of hitting). Ouch.
Don't forget that 'Mechs in MWDA can DFA vehicles and the risk/reward breakdown would be even more in favor of trying it.
I understand what you're trying to say about this being an intermediate playtest issue and that it may or may not make it in. I even called it a "silly rumor" earlier myself. But it might not be just a rumor, and I am trying to make my voice heard now, in what small way I can, and try to make a case that this is an unbalanced idea and that it defies BattleTech Universe tradition. They can fix the specific wording of "Merciless" to make it not so broken, but the whole idea of JF being expert physical attackers cannot be made right. It can only be dropped.

I would rather not do that myself, but I have a specific issue I would like to address. And, in general, WK is in a little bit of a PR slump at the moment.

... if they screw DF again, it's over.
Dude,
This is not meant to be a flame or attack, but you need a reality check!
I play DF, SC, Highlander & Rots, in that order and DF has never been screwed in any set.
It's true that the SS has received the lion’s share of "f-up broken Unit" in most of the sets, the DF has received the best overall playable units in every set, including DA.
Come on... think about it.
We got a strong base in Dark Age, great jump inf, a evade Mechs, peasants & don’t forget we got the two best two tanks.
FFE gave us the Maxim Mk2 Transport, can you say DI tank drop? Best dominant tactic in the game until DFA hit.
DFA gave us the best most playable Trike Squad, Kanazuchi Battle Armor, Partisan AA Vehicle and the completely broken SM1 Tank Destroyer. All still see play today.
Liaoincursion gave us the best vtol, the vet Donar Assault Helicopter 20” move 21 def and our most playable mech A. Kirasawa - Valiant.
Counterassault... we got the "All Powerful, must have" Scout ATV. Come on Bro people are paying $10 a piece for them on e-bay. I guarantee that 75% of the constructed armies at National & worlds will contain DF Scouts ATV, plus every other DF unit in CA is very playable, except the Locust.
So if you feel Df is getting shafted and must complain, try playing Highlanders, they have never gotten any love in any set. DF & BR are the best factions if you want to run pure faction, they have every need units covered.
Just my 2 cents…
Still no DF repair vehicle. I'm hoping that we get one of the new ICE repair mechs...
So who's the best for faction pure?
Bannson's, Dragons and Liao all have trikes or ATVs for use against arty and to lock up key units. (The single most important key to victory IMO. They allow you to choose when and where to attack.) Tie between Liao and DF
They all have serviceable arty, tanks and VTOLs. (BR and DF Airbourne tank drop is silly, but fun.) DF has the edge here.
Bannson's has the Repair gimmick, DF has lots of IT, killer infantry and the above mentioned tanks and Donar, Liao now has some of the nastiest mechs (Targe, Jacyn, various Elite LEs.) and the House abilities. These abilities tend to cancel each other out.
All of them pay for all this with relatively low defences and short dials.
In a three way, king of the hill battle, I think DF might just nose out ahead.
We don't have a repair, but the next best thing is the Merc JI100. I wish we had a J-37 with evade, would you love to see the SW J-37 as a DF unit, umm.. drool..
But really, I never worry about repair if I’m DF, I can’t see giving up the killing power of 2 ATV for a repair vehicle, Df has too many markers.
But I do think DF is the best overall faction if you want to run Pure. Around here, we run venue sponsored pure faction game and 4 out of 7 players will run DF if they want to really win. We have the best design paradigm with Liao & BR being a close second & third.
So, a 10-attack 'Mech trying to DFA Geoff Bekker at his sweet spot needs a 16. The expectation value of 4D6 is 14, so this is not a likely hit but the odds are still good enough to make it worth a try. i thinks its more like 76% chance of missing when u are rolling for 12s
you have evade, but i still hit
you have electronic caomflague, but those are my streak missiles blowing you leg off
you have camoflague, but you draw attention like a naked brittney spears, chained to a wall, in the middle of a prision full of rapists
it all means- the speed modes that protect you from attack, don't
they can streak electronic
they don't worry about camo, (no +2 bonus)
they see through evade (no +2 bonus)

the 50/50 point is 10.5
We are discussing the possibility that the Jade Falcons will get to add 1D6 to their attack stat when making DFA attacks. This would be the same as rolling 4D6 to hit as opposed to 3D6 as everything else currently uses.

Where did you hear this J? Did you go to the convention to figure this out?
