That "Black Blade" is a beast. Gotta love 20" CCAO for 4 damage (with faction pride). :devious: I`m thinking this is gonna be a good support piece for the Shiros, especially "Yami". Let "Yami" sit back and snipe, and if someone gets too close let him hit it for 5 dmg! It could also mop up any vehicles that are trying to advance or some arty with that assault range. Maybe put agility on it so it takes no dmg from CC, but unless your facing another Shiro its not really worth it...If only Rapid Strike was still class (M) that would be mean. :devious: Anyway I can`t help myself I had to build an army around it, so here goes...
"Yami" Shiro with:
Kenshin Tadashi and Improved Targeting...Total=310 pts.
"Black Blade" Kozo with:
Katana Tormark...Total=193 pts.
HK Raiden B.A. x5=75 pts.
HK :^^^: Oni B.A.=22 pts.
600 pts.
Like I said before "Yami" snipes, while the Kozo kills anything that seems like a threat. Infanty can go into two groups of three to support "Yami". Don`t know if it is too competitive but I think it would be fun to play. :)
You don't necessarily have to destroy the infantry

So as well as being expensive it also lacks the deployment arc the Garrott enjoys.
Nothing says you can't deploy just one or 2 infantry and leave the others mounted. You just won't get the formation fire or cc attack.

Is that legal? Even if it is doesn`t that kinda defeat the purpose of using and R10 in the first place? Anyway what do you guys think of the new stalking spider? It would have been nice to have hardened, or even reactive instead of the heavy armor, and maybe more damage or 21 def. to start. I don`t know if this is gonna be playable or not, will have to test it once I get one... :ermm: With the faction pride the dmg is at least decent. Best pilot we have so far for this is Earl Crowhurst, but that will give him a 11 att. 21 def. (23 in hindering) which isn`t too bad...Kind of thinking why use this instead of the Crimson Hawk or a Roku, but ya never know.
Moving on I thought of this army last night:
"Sei-gi" Rokurokubi with:
Lill Turner and Double Rate...Total=185 pts.
"Okami" Rokurokubi with:
Chu-I (Crimson Hawk pilot) and Evade...Total=182 pts.
Crimson Hawk with:
Wahab Fusili and Pulse...Total=
3 HK Raidens (15 ea.)...Total=45 pts.
HK Faction Pride +1 dmg (40 pts.)
Total=600 pts.
If I had Stephen Dirks I would put him in, but alas I do not... :tired:
Anyway plan is to swam the fatty (At my venue everyone always plays one). Then finish off the support afterwards. What do you guys think?
wish i would got in sooner on this thread.....have not read all the posts:(
will have to sat that the yashas in a swarm work very well...4 or more, six preferably...the question your oponent has to ask is can I shoot them down fast enough? And if I devote resources to this what about the other threats?
Example:
Sei-Gi w/ Fusili and IT -175 pts.
3x vet. yasha -120 pts.
3x el. yasha -129 pts.
2x morning star -96 pts.
4x raiden ba -60 pts. (or 3x vet. oni ba -60pts)
either HK fp card (to suit your taste)
600 pts.
sure you have to pick your targets wisely...but all the ballistic, heavy and hardened allow you to wade in and roll dice. Make sure to use lots of blocking to hide behind....feignt and flank. If you get the command rolls get real aggressive. and most people playing up here never like to see SIX vtols on the other side of field, no matter how fragile. Worked real well in the september storyline A.
There is a limited amount of support for Kurita. However the infantry are pretty solid. They'll be "filling the gaps" and you don't have much to choose from to the PV of the event and the combinations you need to get to the PV largely determine what you want.
The Raiden are fairly fast and have jump jets and they make great capture units. They are the only infantry in the game whose attack reaches 10. When it does, don't push them. :)
The Oni (both ranks) are superstars.
The Rokus are great. The best is, of course, the hardest to get - the pre-order LE non-unique. However either unique is also good (if somewhat expensive by comparison). I quite like Okami because of the Rapid Strike.
The Tokugawa is OK. It wouldn't get a mention but for the fact it is the only real combat tank the faction has. Tanks generally need to be dropped in the current game or they die fast. This one hasn't the attack, really, to be dropped. But as un-dropped tanks go it isn't bad because it can take a hit and shoot back and its starting defense isn't bad (and it has armor to boot).
The Morningstar isn't bad either. It's like two units in one. Early on it's an infantry-hunter that has command and reactive to protect against non-Arp infantry or artillery. Later on it gets a decent attack value after it loses command. The damage is only 2 but hopefully you made use of the command before you lost it ...
The Yashas work for me. Frighteningly fragile on both of them but it's a finesse piece, not a beating stick like the Donar.
Nothing says you can't deploy just one or 2 infantry and leave the others mounted. You just won't get the formation fire or cc attack.
Any that are not placed are eliminated.
page 19...
"al of its passengers must immediately disembark"
so all must disembark.
also page 19 ...
"If the base of a disembarking passenger cannot rest completely on the battlefield (due to terrain or a lack of space on the battlefield), it is eliminated."
Sei-Gi w/ Fusili and IT -175 pts.
3x vet. yasha -120 pts.
3x el. yasha -129 pts.
2x morning star -96 pts.

The problem with this army is the lack of damage output. It can do a max of 3 dmg to start off (with +1 dmg FP) which is not gonna cut it. If your opponent is bringing hardened armor only the Roku is gonna be able to do anything (Yasha`s can do 1 with FP, but still...) The Roku`s are meant to be support pieces, not the star of your army. To me, the Morning Star is not something you ever want to play in a Kurita army, but that`s just me. I like the concept of the 6 VTOLs but I do not see this army doing much in a tourney, at least at my venue. These are just my opinions so don`t take anything the wrong way. :)
You obviously didn't read the entire part of page 19 Kotch!

so those that cannot be placed will die.
You conveniently left out the part before that says this:
If a transport gains salvage when it already has passengers, after resolving the order that caused it to gain Salvage, ALL OF ITS PASSENGERS IMMEDIATELY DISEMBARK.
The very first line on the Disembarking procedure states:
TO disembark ANY NUMBER OF PASSENGERS from a transport, give the transport a move order.
Your partial quote is taken from the part of the paragraph that deals with salvaged vehicles carrying passengers. By only including apart of the quote, its misleading to others.
In the future, if your going to quote a rule, you should include the entire sentence that makes up the rule.
All one has to do is read the pg 19 section on disembarking for yourselves and see that you can disembark any number of passengers. ANY NUMBER is certainly not ALL in the english language. :)
Uh, I think you guys are confusing what the other is saying. When a Transport gains Salvage, ALL of the units must disembark. Those which can't be placed die. That's true enough. But I think Warhammer is talking about when you use a Move order to deploy...you don't have to deploy every unit inside the transport when using a Move order to deploy...only when you gain Salvage do you have to deploy EVERY unit.
Deployed this against remnants of Katana's fanatics:
"Hellfire" w/Enrico and ER Ammo
"Sei-gi" w/JP Millhew and IT
HK Yasha x2
HK Raiden BA
HK Damage FP
600ish pts.
Yeah, I fought Bounty Hunter with "Kaze", 2 DF Donars, 6 DF ATVs, 3 DF Shock Troopers, and a Tokugawa TD with DF R10. "Sei-gi" charged a Donar and provoked the TD. Millhew dies, but helps take down a Donar with "Hellfire" annihilating the TD with 7 damage. The Yashas helped take down the other Donar and ATVs. Oh, and Active Volcanos was in play, so my Raiden BA investigated the eruptions. ;) In the end, everything died except "Hellfire" who went through half of its dial. My Raiden died from volcanos and my last Yasha died from a push to kill an ATV that was still alive. Bounty Hunter charged "Hellfire"... and missed, so I had a shutdown mech to blast to pieces with 4 dmg. Rapid Strike (FP). And of course, Enrico had a blast with the remaining infantry. :devious:
This army was surprisingly good. Although, TDs would probably ruin this combo's day and maybe artillery. But, everything is either fast enough to get in the face of the enemy or mostly artillery immune.
I don't have to look through all the pages in this thread to find out this, so I will ask away. What figures do we know are going to be released in Annihilation for HK?
Alright. You've got another joiner, now, in one such as I. I am going about acquiring Kuritan units, and once a trade goes through, I shall have something like:
Kaminari + Pilot
2x Zeus
2x Hellion
2x Tokugawa
Morningstar MHQ
4x Raiden
2x Vet Yashas
Now, once the DF can ally with HK and do formations, I'll be able to add an R10 and Shun to the mix, as well as a pair of Snipers for the DF. Mechwise, what are some other recommendations for the faction? There should be a Sei-Gi/Dirks and an Okami/Wahab in the venue I can make a bid on. I've already got the faction pride for +1 damage, and the otehr doesn't really seem like it's worth trading for.
