Lock On Targeting is an attack value gear, so it does not matter which freaking weapon system you use. If you have a 14" primary and a 8" secondary, then you get a bonus if you are within 7" when using primary or 4" when using secondary.

Picked up Black Rose this weekend: Love the mech. I just tried it and Hazen in a 450 pt battle:

Black Rose
Hazen
3 Sniper teams
MH2 Heavy Artillery
2 Track bikes
Sylph Battle armor


The Sylph acted as a base and breaker, while the 2 track bikes helped to bring the Hvy artillery into battle faster. The sniper teams took point position to get my oppoent to commit while Black Rose and the Sylp too care of things.
Played a Short game vs Steel Wolves, used lots of hindering terrain. It was nasty how destructive that team was and how hard it was to pin down.

My dice do not like me when I do not play JF. Stupid dice. :)

but I picked up a few boosters and pulled the JF Goshawk so I decided to use it at my next 450 tourney this Thursday:

Terrain will be Blocking all the way so that the Goshawk can maneuver within 11 inch MDFA Supported by the Sylph and Saxon/Sniper Team as neccessary. Trackbikes will start formed up with Sniper if push move is necccessary or can go independent. The Cardinal/ EBA's are the Arty neutralizer or Goshawk support if needed. The Sniper does what it does best!

Would appreciate any inputs as far as Firepower card add-ons. I should be getting my case before Thursday.

There are two things that peak my interest in this army; the first is the use of Heavy Armour, one of the least liked Gears for mediums. The second is the :^^^: Sniper, which to my mind is still a combat king.

In every single game I have played my GHKs so far, I have won through a slogging match - MDFA, whap/thud/whap/thud/BOOM! Now most of the scary stuff out there loses it's armour busting capabilities after a good MDFA, and having every return hit reduced in damage by 1 each time would have been mighty handy.

The :^^^: Sniper has a three inch pog. Thu-reeee, people. Not many of those seeing the light of day at the moment. Stick a couple of "guards" around it (shock horror, a good old-fashioned meat shield!) and it's pretty darn snazzy. Accurate, long ranged and, as mentioned, THREE inches of poggy goodness. Of course, the 22 DV to start is just icing on the cake... ..of course, it isn't too hot close in...

The only huge downside of your force is that it requires more than 5 orders to get it moving and acting to the premium of each unit.

If you are only going to run one GHK, pack TWO :^^^: Snipers - persuade your opponent that hangin back really isn't cricket and that he/she should come over to YOUR deployment zone to play... where your GHK can MDFA to its heart's content. :devious:

Well White Knight, you're really tempting me. I currently don't have either a Sniper Arty or a Hadur, so since joining clan Jade Pog... er Falcon, I'd better upgrade my support. I'll have to go hunting on ebay or something similar...
