Hail, fellow Nova Cat brethren! After a trip to my local venue, and through a large number of trades and whatnots, I have been (finally!) able totake home a good number of Nova Cat pieces, including;
1 :^^^: Nova Cat
1 :^^: Nova Cat(CNC)
1 :^^: Nova Cat(SC)
2 :^^: Cizin
3 :^^: Thunderbird Battle Armor
1 :^^^: Thunderbird Battle Armor
1 :^^: Bishop Transport
2 :^^: ATV Squad
1 :^: Enyo Strike Tank(SC)
Currently I am debating which Nova Cat to run with and a 600pt army to design, with Kurita mech help(Roku/Stalking Spider perhaps...). Until then, I leave my fellow Warriors here with good tidings, and well wishes for your own next battles to be full of victory!
Seylah!
Congratulations CaptainofC-21! Hope I can do as well. We have only received 5 boosters here so far. Out of those I was able to get 2 of the CNC ATV's. I am hoping this weekend will prove more fruitful....
Aff, my brethren, aff. It is very unfortunate that I have no luck pulling CNC pieces, all I pulled by myself was an ATV, two TBA, and a Cizin, everything I had to trade for. Here is hoping you have (much) better luck.
Thankfully, I have however just built an army out of my humble CNC beginnings for this Month's Storyline!
With the Ice Field in effect for every match, it will surely help my mechs cool down some. The idea is to pulse first with the Nova Cat, then follow up with the kill with the Stalking Spider, or Bishop/TBA drop/pulse. Heat will certainly be a factor to be certain, but I shall face the enemies of the Clan of Nova Cat and the House of Kurita fearless of shutdown. I will only be taking water terrain, so that I can clear the field up as much as possible thanks to Ice Field. ATVs are there to make early basers and such.
Seylah, my fellow warriors, it does good to see myself finally return to the Nova Cats after my absence with the Wolves(Thanks to Firepower, Wolves had a better chance of winning, since IMO, their pieces in AoD were better). I fight again for the glory of the Cat!
Bah! I go and purchase a case so that I might get some true Clansmen to fight with, and I am left with just Matt Lossey. Granted, Matt is a stalwart warrior. It is just unfortunate that I recieved the lesser half of the Muteki Lance, and Kisho Nova Cat came in a dirty Lyran machine.
As far as a 600pt force in concerned, this wiped out a Falcon Force in short order.
:^^:Nova Cat
Nova Cat Star Captain
Heavy Improved Targeting
"Sabretooth"
Matt Lossey
Heavy Ferro-Fibrous Armour
:^^:Bishop Transport
:^:Enyo Strike Tank
The Nova Cat and Shadow Cat are just too much for single mech or light mech forces to deal with. They get overwhelmed, the Mechs move on to the next target, and the Enyo/Bishop mop up weakened units.
This army should have the advantage of being versatile, fast, and massive hitting power. Both mechs can handle infantry well, with Sabretooth able to handle that pesky armored stuff. Nebula's PPC Capacitor should let it put a decent dent in even hardened targets. Both mechs can strike from at least 21" away with their energy weapons. The Bishop promises a T-Bird formation drop to anything that gets close. The ATV handle artillery untill the mechs can get into range.
I will be running a different force for the upcoming storyline, but I will not post it for fear of enemy recon. I will give a full after action report on Sunday.
This is my CNC army i'm going to use, the TBA's have been amazing to me so they are my only infantry. The enyo is for a tank drop and the 3 elite TBA's are for an air drop, then my 3 other TBA's are in a formation and move down the field. At first I don't even have to use any orders to move Nebula around because of Kisho, and didn't have enough points for evade so I put in pulse. The morrigan can either shut down a mech and be pulsed to death by my infantry and tank, or it can pulse it for big damage. Nebula has too many uses to count.
I have not had the time to go through all the pages in this thread, so could someone please let me know which figures are the most playable? If not, could you at least point me to the correct page where someone may have gone over all the current CNC figures? Thanks... :)
I managed to get 3 NC units from 2 boosters. First booster had "Nebula"Windigo in it but becouse of somekind of mess up i got pilot of "Burford" instead if Kisho (luckily i have Matt Lossey). Second one had NC Bishop and NC Thunderbird (veteran) in it.
too bad alot of the CNC mechs look like they had SC paint mixed in with the white.
Nebula and Sabretooth are my 2 favorite of the CNC unique mechs. The t-birds are must have infantry for CNC. accually every CNC unit in anihilation is a very good unit.

Good hunting Jegred2!
Strangely enough, I sat down earlier in the week, and came up with a similar army...
Nebula
> Kisho (L-028)
> Pulse
CNC Morrigan (veteran)
> CNC Star Commander
> Evade
CNC Bishop Transport
> CNC Thunderbird BA (Elite)
> CNC Thunderbird BA (Veteran)
> SC Thunderbird BA
in a draft I had last week my T-birds raked up a wopping 8 kills, 2 of whitch were mechs, 3 vehicles, and 3 infantry. My HS ravagers almost got as many.
CONS[list][*]Kind of pricey for a medium[*]12" range may not be enough sometimes
Pilot Selection:
Matt D. Lossey of course! The Mechwarrior so good, not only did he earn a Blood-name, but a Blood-middle-initial as well! Both versions are good, but I prefer the LE L-027 card. His triple pulse is good, but only lasts for as long as his pulse does, it also makes for some excessive heat. Instead, his LE card gives him the same full-move on assault order, with the added bonus +1 for ranged compat orders. This helps not only against the RHDMs, but also for keeping Sabretooth's attack value up after taking a few clicks of damage.
Gear Selection Aggressive: Armor Piercing. It lets Sabretooth handle those annoying armored infantry. Pulse is already on the mech, so PPC Capacitor seems reduntant.
Defensive: Light Ferro-Fibrous Armor. Without a doubt. Not only should it come with him, but it stacks with the heavy armor SE already on the dial. This greatly enhances Sabretooth's longevity.
Budget: None. I know it is a bit of a cop-out, but none of the cheaper gear really have good synergy with Sabretooth. Also, with Heavy Armor and Pulse standard, it does not really need the extra gear and cost.
CONCLUSION
Although lacking any real flashy stats or abilities, Sabretooth and Matt D. Lossey should not be overlooked. Like a medium mech should be, it is a Jack-of-all-trades... Master of none. It can handle infantry or mechs with equal skill. It has a 21" assault order. A possible 12 attack. Sabretooth is an excellent choice when you are not sure of what to expect from your opponent. It also makes an excellent mech to include in two mech builds, allowing the other mech to take more of a "specialist" role.
For a budget gear I would suggest adding Extra Ammo G-044, for an extra five points when you run out of balistic damage it becomes two instead of 0 on a ranged combat attack, brings the total to 201 and adds a little more versatility for little cost.
You might also consider A-Pods for that free breakaway from any infantry, even those with grapple, this brings the point total to 207, well worth it I think.
The only problem that I have with the Light and Heavy Ferro Armor both is that they are ignored by AP due to the wording of the AP gear. It says that it ignores any defense special equipment with the word armor in the name. Fortunately, this should also mean that you don't have to roll for the effect and risk losing it since the armor is not allowed to kick in in the first place, just like standard armor.
