I'd personally like characters that are cooler (Bane, etc) to have LOWER cost versions, rather than higher. Most low-drops will see play in tourneys; few high drops will. And I think one annoyance with the game has been, thusfar decks are populated with a lot of secondary characters from each team. Instead of Batman and Robin battling the joker and bane, we have Ahmed and Fatality battling John Henry Irons and his buddies Electric Eve and Shape. You figure it out.
They've made exceptions for a lot of "name" characters to have lower drops (Doom is a great example), I think they could do this with some of the other names (like Bane) that we would want to play.
I too have very high expectations for this set, even though it's a year or so off.
If it doesn't meet it, I just might give up VS for something more productive, like actually showing up at my track recording sessions and finishing that damn album we've been trying to get together for years.
Supes has been my childhood hero. I'm not asking for him to be broken, I'm asking for him to be able to hold himself against characters he should be able to hold himself against.
I still want a solid Batman 7 drop, maybe with card search.

FT - The Bat has an answere for everything.
Whatever they do with Batman he needs to be playable!!! It's so frustrating to not really have a good Batman yet. One of DC's marquee characters is crap in every version unless you try some gimmick. UDE has showcased his detective ability but they haven't showcased his combat ability or ability to take on multiple characters either defensively or offensively. I'd really like to see a real solid 4 or 5 drop version of him that can shift the momentum of the game.

I was going to respond to the last few posts individually. But they are all touching on pretty much the same thing. And I couldn't agree more.
As a comic book fan, it's really frustrating that my Superman gets trounced by an average character of the same cost. (I love the Superman vs. Darkseid scene in the link - thanks!)
I hate that when I put together a JLA deck, I'm passing up the Big 7 for a team of roster-fillers.
Batman and Superman are hands-down the two most popular characters in DC Comics. Along with Spider-man and Wolverine, they are among the top four most popular characters in all of comics. But to date, their card versions are underwhelming.
With this set, Upper Deck has a chance to make the marquee characters really playable. No one's asking for them to be broken. But we should be able to make decks where are favorite characters are competitve.
I really hope that with this set and Marvel team-up, Upper Deck is making a concerted effort to make the most iconic comic book characters into an actual presence in their game. Otherwise a lot of players, myself first among them, will be very disappointed.

I quite interested to see what way they go with Inmates.
I went mental at my first Constructed tournament when I ended up fighting Dr. Light in every damn deck I went up against. Comic writers would be turning in their graves in they saw Team-Ups like Dr. Light and Dr. Doom used the way they are in some constructed decks I've been up against.
Cannae wait for more Superman stuff, I'd really like to see some use with my TS deck again.

So will this set include 5 major teams? Or will one of the teams be like the Fantastic Four from MHG, where the team is advertised in the beginning, yet only to appear in dual-affiliated cards. Or will it be like the MAV with 4 big teams and 1 medium team, if so, which of these teams will be discriminated against(I am guessing GK).
As far as team theme goes, all the teams will be based on their original theme plus new themes available to each. The reason Doom and Brotherhood didn't get their old theme revisited is because they are already two damn strong teams to begin with, you don't want to add fuel to the fire. While X-Men had their recovery theme revisited because it was weak before(and still is xp). For that reason, the legacy teams will all get their themes revisited because they all suck a donkey's ### right now.
Let's hope that Revenge Squad gets an Ahmed Samsarra esque character that searches out Ongoing Plot Twist.
