One of the advertising points of this set is that it is still playable with past cards. So I don't see card sizes changing, or dramatic rule changes in the future. Maybe more of a clean up rather than a clean sweep.
A 6 cost character still is a 12/12, Savage Beat is still 4 cost. Flight, range, activatie, concealed/optional, team stamping and loyalty are still around. The basic mechanics look the same, so I am not going to worry too much.
Can't wait to find out about these new rules though. Lets face it, the current rules are difficult, convoluted and tiresome. Im all for less teams; its not like anybody plays half the ones we have now. And less useless stuff like Ally and all that. Just make it a bit simpler, playing VS, even casually is somewhat akin to doing homework right now. Its more of a chore, to drag myself to someones house and get mired in an hour long battle of monotony and lol-play-quicksilver-youre-at-15-on-4-gg.
All our Vs players recently all but quit in favor of Pokemon, and after a few hours of dry heaving I joined them. Hopefully these changes (and some low-level OP $$$ payouts?) will bring everyone back.
Also I am interested to see an extended art with the new format.
no. way. ever.
VS got big compared to other games BECAUSE of our EAs. look at magic; when did they start EAs? not until after WE MADE THEM.
VS has that right.
we shouldn't change how the EAs look just because we want a "change of pace" or a "fresh start."
EAs aren't FOR "fresh start"s.
They show that the owner DID something to EARN it, either by supporting their lgs hl, competing well or buying it (and yes, that counts too).
Outside of how the RP cost looks, the EA versions of these new cards won't be as good as the old ones.
who wants an EA that is pretty much top-bottom-sides all art except for the name and a weird little rectangular text box at the bottom?
The oldschool EAs were stylin'. heck, it'd be cool if the new cards used the old EA format.
heck sidestackers/topbottom stackers would be great too. when was the last time we got any of those???
On a more important matter? That Hulk is ####ing sick. That's a game ender right there. Heh...stick him in a life-gain deck and stall to 6. 'Okay, I'll swing my 52/52 Hulk into your guy right there...oh, and Chilly Reception that fella back there, yeah, no reinforcement for you.'
...and then one of us janky fellows flips Prophecy Fulfilled FTW...BoooYAaaaaa!
The more I look at these, the more I like them. For the most part. And as so many said to me, "If you don't like VS, don't let the door hit you on the way out."
