But see, that's exactly the point I'm trying to make. WHY spend that much? If the game dies in a couple of months, I don't want to look at my Marvel Zombie cards and think "Gee, that was money well spent."
Your right and how do you think I will fell with my endless 5000 count boxes of VS cards. I Play the game because I LOVE it. I could spend my money on game Like Yu-gi-oh,Naruto, WOW. Where I could buy low and sell High. I'm not in it for the money or the Cards. NOW MORE THAN EVER it's about the GLORY. I will gladly give away my cards if I win. By the why the games here to stay for a little while more. Just like the RED SOX. Got to keep the Faith.

OK perfect reason not to go. Your moving next week. I totally understand.
I'm in Lowell, MA - a 4+ hour drive to NYC. I'm married, have 3 kids and (silly me) actually expected there to be one at YMG this time around. It's a matter of Priorities - My wife, kids and general homelife are more of a priority to me than Vs. right now.
I'm in a similar situation. We should get together soon to have our own "It's not an ES" event. Over 21 and Bring Your Own Micro Brew. I'm sure we can get aceswolf, Pseudophonic, Sheye, and the_puritan in on that one!

Aces and his crew are bending over backwards to grow this game, while YMG does nothing, and that's the real problem up here.
This is 100% truth. If YMG doesn't want anything to do with it, then UDE needs to let us(Jetpack) and aceswolf(Harrisons) do it.

I'm cool with that I'll just bring the Sam Adams :)

What does that leave me with? Judging? I can be the TO now, too ... I'll be getting a TO kit in a week or so. (NOT a HL kit)
To be frank, the AoA cards offered just don't have the play value or resale value that Big Leagues and EMOE had at the time I made the decision to go. I like competition, but driving more than an hour or two for competition is going to require something for my time. Selfish, sure. I'd also like to point out, however, that I still have my EAs from the first Elite Series, so it's not all about the money. The prize support in Houston was ridiculous, as there was no separation in prizing at the Top 8 level save the playmat (which was raffled off in the most ridiculous manner I've ever seen). 9th through 16th got ancient boosters (Marvel Knights and Green Lantern Corps) for their time and efforts. Again, I like to play, but it's just not worth the trip (See #1)
At this time I can tell you that we have been doing our best to make sure that everyone is happy and we have even added more prizes to what UDE is sent.
Right now we are planning giving out about 6-7 extended arts in addition to the marvel zombies participation card. Also we are planning on giving out Marvel Legends booster packs to everyone who enters.
The winner of the elite series will get the normal prizes but we have added prizes to 2-4 by adding an onslaught mat to the second place and savage beatdown shirts to third and fourth.
We have also added more door prizes:
1 Random Punks Mat
2 Onslaught Mats
1 Elite Series Fortify Playmat
2 Savage Beatdown T-Shirt
1 At Their Finest Extended Art Pack (which includes Batman Cape and Cowl, Superman Deterrent Force, At Their Finest, Bat Got Your Tongue)
1 X-Men Deck Box (metal version)
5 UDE Vs System Tin (metal version)
This is where the players should interact with the venue more to find out about specifics.
I posted this on the $20 thread but UDE has thrown in extra door prizes:
10 Deck Tins
4 Apoc Mats
2 Shirts
And every store who has been running regular HL is probably going to throw in extra EA prizing from their leftovers (we will be) and should be tossing in boosters (every player will get a minimum of 1 booster at our event... I say minimum because that usually translates to 3 or 4 or whatever I feel like that day).

Are you going to do what you did with all the other events and have the prize cards spread throughout top 8?
Good stuff...wish I'd known about it earlier, I might have made more of an effort to go.
I posted everything on the Austin Elite Series thread, but we continued to add more stuff to it as the week went along.
I would like to give out more boosters packs for entering but it is kind of hard to convince my store manager to do that when he reads that people are not interested.
Any I am sure that it will be a great tournament and I am expecting to see 20-25 people.
