I would really like to hear something from UDE too, but this is one of the reasons they are so hesitant in giving us info. Because we tend to over analyze things and get out pitch forks if we feel they don't meet the expections of their announcements. Heck, in this case it was just a post on an internet forum.
It's not my intention to call CaptainCuba out. Not at all. Just saying that if we had our posts scrutinized to this degree, you can bet we'd all be very, very cautious in making any announcements (or even posts on a fan based user forum.)
Is this where I say I hate the Legionaires & I wish they were all dead aside from Star Man.
Most of you guys probably don't know Topher is a farmer. He lives off goverment subsidies.
So everyone get your pitchforks out & howl @ the moon.
They would need to announce the cancellation before we could get it rolling in earnest.
But, again, damn we would be good at it. You guys make killer cards, Lost Hemisphere and Full Body Transplant and all the other blogs do the voting, we start up an official site for the tournaments?
It would be different if the game was officially cancelled. Right now, those are only "fantasy" sets. In the future they may be considered more "real" of we formed a community that agreed to play with them.
We would be in some sort of Mad Max post apocalyptic world.
We would band together and decide how to rebuild Vs. System society.
We would probably have a helluva lot of fun.
That kind of thing could be a blast. I'm all for it - but, yeah, I'd really like to know one way or another whether MEV was the last 'official' set or not, preferably sometime soon.

Again, one of my dearest Vs. System friends triggers the wicked rant.
See, here is my problem with this whole thread.
ALL OF US would like to know one way or another.
Obv, obv, infi obv.
Everyone wants to know as soon as possible. Who doesn't realize that? Surely Ben Seck and Billy Zonos and anyone cares that would ever read this thread has it weighing around their neck like a cement collar.
The question then becomes: How can we have a good time while we wait?
(Personally, I don't like people who complain at parties, but that's just me.)
I am sure of one thing. The game will not die after UDE stops printing cards. That was kind of the whole point of the DCU project that Gugs, Seventh Soldier, Captainspud and I worked on. And we've been working on a follow-up for quite a while now.
Some people will stick around and make new cards. Having them "officially" sanctioned by the remaining Vs. community would be cool. Frankly, it takes a lot of manpower to make a full set of cards. Even with 4 of us putting in a lot of our spare time and others making significant contributions, things slipped through the cracks.
When I think about how good a fan-made set would be if it passed the scrutiny of the entire Vs community, it makes me tear up a little :sniff:
Seriously, when this happens, whether it is in 2009 or later, I'll be there participating. I know the rest of the group who worked on DCU will be there too. I hope for many more official sets from UDE. But when the time comes, we will carry on.
Don't know if it'd make it easier, particularly, but it'd certainly make the set a tad more urgent.
Whatever. DCU was fun to make, despite missteps, and here's to hoping the next one turns out even better.

Hey, not complaining. Just stating that, yeah, it'd be nice to know. Regardless of what we know, you can bet that the DCU team will still be working, and you can bet that I'll still be making ineffectual decks for my blog (in between berating people for not reading comics I like), now with added MEV. I'm not saying they owe us an explanation, and I'm not saying that I'll go on a killing spree if I don't get an answer... I'm just saying, I'd like to know sometime.
That's not complaining. That's just a statement that I think every single person here can and has said, and since I Just jumped in, I figured I'd say it, too.

You know what? You're right. And I believe in taking steps for the greater good and putting democracy into action.
Nah, not really. I don't care if it's original (frankly, I'd like if everyone chose it), and it does look pretty. Still don't see the cowardice, but I don't see anything you do.

It would be nice if you could pre-emptively change it. Please?
Because those of us who have been here a while instantly see anyone with that avatar as a UDE employee and connect that person with official announcement and information. It gives a false sense of power and weight to the comments of the person who uses it. Especially now, when we are anxiously awaiting the announcement of future sets and OP.

None of my posts have been anything resembling an announcement. I hope you are not offended; I'll leave it up to the admins or myself to make a decision regarding it.
