Han... how well do you know about the ownership agreements of HeroClix?
Does it include the licensing of Marvel and DC properties? I've been told by other onliners that there is a multi-year contract in place so that whoever takes over HC has IP rights to Marvel and DC... but I'm not too sure of that.
Most licensing contracts contain outs for ownership transfers such as these so I'm wondering if the new owner is viable enough to pay for future fees (DC is pretty expensive) and if Marvel/DC are onboard with such a transfer.

From the contacts I have, which are VERY close to this deal, say that the Marvel/DC licenses are included.
A few months prior to Wizkids demise, they had purchased the Marvel/DC rights for 5 more years. The licenses at this point are firmly attached to the deal.

I have no clue or am nearly as knowledgeable as Han here but I would think that whoever is buying Heroclix is smart enough not to do a purchase if they didn't include Marvel and DC or at least have a prior arrangement with Marvel and DC.

You got it! :)
Not too much interest in Heroclix as a generic Superhero game.
"My Captain Ski-Doo hits your Carpet Lad for 3 clix of damage!"
Sure... but the terms of the agreement may change.
Marvel/DC could opt to reduce the 5-years depending on how much was paid by Topps/Wizkids up front. Or... they could change the financial aspect, increasing or reducing the licensing percentage.
Or... it's a separate deal... they buy the ownership rights to the HeroClix property and engine but have to create a new licensing agreement with Marvel/DC.
Some people think it's so easy to just do a game about Marvel/DC supeheroes without thinking about licensor restrictions and costs.
