Well, when the Ogres have done their pulls and the sealed tournaments I'll be ready to do some trading. My trade thread only has one post since I didn't list all the Cap I have for trade which is understandable. I ended up buying two cases today and on Saturday I'll have at least another 4 boosters worth of material to trade so who knows, I might take care of more of my final wants. But to be honest, I'd prefer to do my trading with you guys. I like giving random extra objects to Ogres. As a few of you know, you got "the finger" by surprise with GSX.
That's awesome! My friend and I (we're the oldest two that play here) always talk about how just the simple act of opening boosters makes us feel like kids again.
I know what you mean! I have enough trade fodder that I wouldn't have to spend a penny on a new set, but buying boosters is half the fun of a new set.
So, good news on the case/pulls front in general so far for the Ogres who've stepping in so far, it seems.
It'll be stretched out to both sides of the weekend for me - a blast Friday, a couple boosters at a Marquee Saturday, then (almost certainly) the rest, including the gravity feed pieces, Monday.
For now, though... oh. I keep tricking myself into thinking tomorrow's Friday instead of Thursday, and each time I correct myself it makes me weary all over again. Anyway, it's nearly 11:30. I need to get a few things ready, quickly, then try to settle in to sleep. 6am is merciless.
For some reason I keep thinking it's a day later as well. I've been like that all week. Too much going on I think.
So I had a good evening as well. I wasn't able to play in our sealed event due to lack funds, but I watched our crew burn through a couple cases worth of figures. No MODOK or Zemo, but I think I saw at least one of everybody else. The guys pulled Rojhaz and Weapon X. We only had five players, but it was fun. The winning team was Crimson Dynamo, Red Guardian and Bucky Cap.
At the end of the night, after everyone but me had left, I found myself with a copy of FF #6 to purchase. I also had a $5 off punch card coupon that I had to spend at least $10 total to use. I looked longingly at the Cap boosters and wrestled with the notion of buying just one. The peg board only had two loose packs on it, so I asked Shop Keep if I could pull a booster from a fresh brick. As he was going to crack one at the end of the night to restock the peg board anyway, he didn't care, but he said I couldn't "feel up the packs." I agreed, simply stating that I'd like the one from the back right corner. He handed it to me, I paid the good man and my nimble fingers slit the tape and pulled the sleeve. Inside I found a SHIELD Agent, Phobos, Nomad, Darkstar and Invisible Woman.
And that proved to me that you don't need a whole bunch of packs to be happy. Just one good SR can make your day.
Now THAT is a good story. Man struggling with funds is looking longingly at others much more fortunate than him, and on a whim gets one pack, and gets something he wants that makes him happy. You're like Charlie Bucket. Except there's no eccentric man in purple waiting to give you a tour of the NECA factory.
Still, congrats. I know how good it feels to get something you wanted.

Exactly! Speaking of extras. I'm thinking of bundling a bulk of my extra stuff up and just try to sell them as near complete sets just to unload them. This is dating back to IC through the last set. Yeah...I got a lot of extras...lol. I just need to type them up.

Very nice! I'm glad it worked out so well.
The flip side is that it still tells me they have a way to go in refining set design so that someone opening a pack that doesn't contain an SR or chase doesn't feel deflated, and that he's wasted his money.
Darkstar isn't all I'd hoped she'd be, but she has a lot of promise between the Teleporting taxi element and free action Smoke Cloud with 8 range, and that's just part of the package. I'm looking forward to running her with the rest of the Winter Guard and with a Champions team, to start.
And with that -- while I really would rather just settle in for a long, comfortable back-and-forth in between looking over dials and constructing teams... I have to get ready for bed.

Back in the REV days, this wasn't as much of a problem. If you get a good Vet, it totally made up for not getting a unique. It also helps if you're new. I remember when I started, I got a Vet Electro from Sinister. I was SO happy. Someone I knew from the cartoons who was a good piece, and he looked awesome. Nowadays, I'd look and see that he's only an Uncommon by rarity standards, and might feel sorta ripped off.
I agree with you completely, players often feel that they're ripped off if they don't get at least a SR in each pack (myself often included). Its just the mentality that Wizkids/NECA has helped to create by putting an emphasis on Chases and SRs. So really, only 3-4 out of 10 packs in a brick are worth it, and the rest is filler. That's not how it should be.

I just witnessed the most amazing thing. In a preview for "1,000 Ways to Die" a prisoner tries to smuggle a grenade into prison by hiding it in his rectum. When his "co-conspirator" tries to remove the grenade from his butt, he accidentally pulled the pin out instead of the entire grenade. It blew up the guy that had the grenade up his butt. How great is that?!?

I wouldn't have felt like I wasted my money. But the SR certainly helps matters.
Somebody came and solicited me on Facebook about trading his Cap Wolf chase for my Baron Zemo SR. I couldn't believe it. YES, OF COURSE I WILL TRADE ONE SUPER RARE FOR A CHASE!

I love this. It throws rarity out the window and simply gives each party something they are looking for. I'd make either side of that trade as well if the piece in question was something I really wanted or needed.

Wow...
I still wouldn't give up Baron Zemo. He's just way to awesome to ever even consider trading.

That's what I'm saying. Zemo is a quality piece and while he may not be worth as much monetarily as the CapWolf, their playability is both high. So why not trade 'em one for one?
