I recall that a certain 'Realmser of times gone by used to pepper his posts with "LOL!", in all capitals, and it gave me the impression that he was constantly laughing hysterically. I think the intent was to show that he was being lighthearted about something, but I read it as that he was possibly violently insane.

He would insert it LOL! into the middle of sentences LOL! in between words LOL! which just added to the effect of derangement.
