The flip side is that it still tells me they have a way to go in refining set design so that someone opening a pack that doesn't contain an SR or chase doesn't feel deflated, and that he's wasted his money.

For me, the risk of feeling deflated upon seeing what a booster yields is never greater than at a sealed event, especially if it seems that all around you, SRs are being pulled.
I've seen it from both sides. Sometimes, my experiences at sealed events have been extreme, running from the agony of finding terrible figures or ones with mismatched dials/wrong cards to -- Holy Crow! -- discovering a god pack (with the very chase I would have picked!!).
That said...much as I enjoy the CUR system over REVs, I guess one thing I appreciated about the latter was the way it could ease the disappointment at sealed events. At least, that's the way it seems to me now, looking back.
Back then, even a certain Rookie could seem like a good pull. I remember feeling that way after pulling Rookies of Silver Surfer and Hyperion at sealed events. Much as I would have preferred a Vet, finding the Rookie still was a welcome sight!
One thing that never changes, regardless of the system: the anticipation and the fun of opening a good booster, as evidenced by the heartwarming story TaT shared with us of his experience in buying a single booster.
On that note...I'll be seeing my first figures from the Cap set later today at -- what else? -- a sealed event.
If I somehow end up with a SR Invisible Woman (my favorite female) as Tat did, I'll be one donkey crazy ogre (as Suga would say), for sure, and my only risk will be breaking my neck in attempting a cartwheel!
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
Rant time, so if you don't want to hear me vent, best to skip down. I've put it in spoilers so those who don't want to read it don't have to.
...
Now I feel a bit better.

With the smaller sets the CUR portion is completed so much more quickly and easily that almost no one's looking for those pieces (with a few special exceptions maybe) after the first week. Too quickly, all of the value disappears into those high-end rarities, and to not pull one has someone looking at maybe a couple dollars worth of figures - if he can even find a buyer - he's just traded in roughly $12 for. It's a better situation than a scratch-off lottery ticket but only in the sense that the odds for some pay-off are better and you still physically have something with the booster.
I forgot why I quoted this.

Post a thread in the FAQ forum, or whatever it is called. DemonRS should help you if not Typhon.

Basically it's a series of two-booster buy-in events running Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with War, Pestilence and Famine as the main prizes (and a random door prize each day), along with clixbux.
So, I wonder if this will be one of or the only way these are getting broader distribution? It's no upset for me -- they were pegged as prize LEs from the start, so I would have been shocked if they became available under other circumstances (shy of the secondary market, of course) and so had put them out of my mind.
Are these the real figures that you are getting or the digital figures?

So out of curiosity I was just looking at Ebay for the prices of the Chases. I'm kind of surprised that the prices have already come down. Some are already down around $50. Have other Chases dropped this quickly? I remember the Black Lanterns staying closer to $100 for a longer period of time. The White Lanterns are hard to compare since there were so many of them.
Just looked at the SR's too. Surprisingly even those aren't all that high in price. I thought M.O.D.O.K. would be higher than around $20.

Even at 1 per case the fact that there are just 5 makes them seem less rare, and so far none of them have stood out as real power pieces for gaming.
That said, yeah, based on what you're saying these are trending lower than what we've normally seen for chases.

Similarly, it's a matter of perceived rarity. It could be that so many have been stung by shortages on the past few sets that more odered bricks and cases this time out, and many may not have received them yet so they don't know what they do and don't have. That may also affect the pricing on the chase pieces.
I'll be interested to see what the prices are like a week from now.
Somebody came and solicited me on Facebook about trading his Cap Wolf chase for my Baron Zemo SR. I couldn't believe it. YES, OF COURSE I WILL TRADE ONE SUPER RARE FOR A CHASE!
FYI, got a trade thread up for Cap! Take a look and help an ogre out!
Two things:
1. I don't even know what I have of the set. I likely won't until at least Monday night.
2. Trade thread link in your signature would be a terrific idea! That's almost the only way I ever find myself popping in there.

Done and done!

So, I tried my new "prison wallet" this morning to mixed results:
- I got a round of applause when I paid for my ticket at the sneak preview of Harry Potter as everyone around me thought I was performing some form of wizardry. It might have helped that I grunted something that sounded like a spell as some my credit cards got jammed on the way out.
- I got some strange looks from the old ladies with the coupons and the checkbooks at the grocery store but it also helped to explain all the disinfectant in my cart (or buggy for you locals!).
- And, at the bathhouse, it was business as usual.
