I'm not a "powergamer" by any means, but I do try to build well-rounded teams. This set is BUILT on constructing well-rounded teams.
Exactly. Matter of fact, it is SO MUCH a team-building set that all the freakin' haters don't even phase me. I can blissfully sit here and smile and will continue to do so even as I beat the powergamers with my teams. heh heh

I am with you on that, Thrumble. I have it within me to be a powergamer if I want to crank up the heat, but otherwise, I just build fun well rounded teams.

I, however, can blissfully sit there and smile and will continue to do so even as I get beaten by powergamers with my teams.
Because that's basically what I've been doing for a decade now.

A little backstory on my comment. My old venue had a pretty large group of regular players (still does). We all knew each other and rarely did anyone bust out the power-gamer style of teams. Then a drifter came into town (found out a short time later that he was a prize shark, hitting a bunch of places in the LA area). Think VGA mentality, but with better shaving habits. He spoke of how great his skills were and seemed incapable of playing a game unless it contained the power gamer hotness of the time. He told me, actually TOLD me, that theme teams have no chance at all (knowing that I always played theme teams). He ran the gamut of stuff from Ult Thor tentpoles to LAMP, you name it. Total number of times I lost to him: once (his Thor team killed my Alpha Flight). Total number of times he lost to me: at least 4 that I can remember (to 2 Avengers teams, Hellfire Club, Masters of Evil). He tried to crack our venue for about two months, got frustrated and didn't come back. This was all pre-Supernova.
Only thing I've noticed is the hate that the powergaming set has heaped on Cap. Well, that and the addition of some REAL caustic Realmsers.
As for case reports, eh, whatever. I don't care what people pull, and I don't care about said people posting what they pull if they feel like it.

I hate not being in on the fun of knowing who to avoid on the realms.

This set is light years ahead of what DC 75th, WoS, and BatB had to offer. A few minor gripes aside, the dial design in this set is second to none. I don't care if someone likes DC more than Marvel or vice versa, this set just has fantastic dials at every rarity and point level. Yes there are a few real downers, but there are more than enough great options. What's so wonderful is you can take a figure like... Steve Rogers. Now you can build a pretty hardcore competitive team with him OR you can build a thematic team with him that would never be called cheesy. What more can you ask for? Not much.

This is my feeling on it as well. When I spend over $100 on something and am happy with my results I generally allow myself a moment or two to bask in the feeling. As this site is dedicated to the thing I spent over $100 for, I feel it is appropriate to bask here.
That said, when I have posted "here is what I got" posts in the GD I have typically just been rather scientific about it by just listing what I got in each booster and where they were in the brick so others smarter than me (or that have more time) can see if there is a useful pattern to cases.

Sums up my feelings perfectly! I wish I could Rep you for it. heh

Speaking of basking, just bought a random booster for display on my desk (a tradition I've had since BatB) and also to hopefully crack a MODOK.
I got:
HYDRA Agent (YAY!)
Nomad
Falcon
Jack Flag
The Captain! (UBER W00t!)
Still hate chases.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?

How does The Captain look in person? He was my least of the Chase wants just because I'd have a hard time putting him on a thematic team (he doesn't belong with Asgardians), but I'd still be happy to pull him.

Definitely a pretty sculpt! I'll give him a shot, but he'll likely be held in reserve for whatever Hulk chases there are.

If I was still as heavily into clix as I was before I left, I would be ALL OVER this set.
I loved pieces like Blink for TK since she made a wonderful secondary attacker (well over jean Grey or Mandroid). When I made teams, I would try for thematics as well as making sure each piece served more than one purpose. I was never a fan of playing Destiny or Black Panther or Con Artist... pieces like those left no real tactical value to me.

See, I loved (And would still play with) experienced Black Panther. He was perfect. 36 points for stealth outwit with the option of B/C/F with a 9 attack. He could be taken out quickly, but he's still a favorite all time piece of mine.

I was out and about in Tulsa last night. Weird thing is, I found Arkham Asylum and Web of Spiderman boosters.
Also some Justice League, but no one cares about those.
My venue still has Boosters for sets going further back than Avengers. I think they have at least one sitting around from as far back as Clobbering Time. Still has Bricks of some of the post-Avengers sets sitting around, even (and perhaps one from Avengers, too).
