I am a new player and absolutely love the game of Hero Clix. I do my best to look up rules and interpret them when I have a question. However, due to me being dense or just overlooking the answer, I have a few questions I was hoping you all could help me with.
I understand that ranged attacks can be made up to or within the range value of the attacking character to one space away from an opposing character. I also realize that ranged attacks may not be used if two characters are adjacent. If I am wrong on either of these two pieces of info please let me know.
My question is regarding hovering players. Can a grounded character make a ranged attack on an adjacent hovering character and vice versa? I am pretty sure I read somewhere that a grounded character can make a ranged attack on a soaring adjacent character and was just wondering if the same thing applied to hovering characters. I hope I worded this inquiry clearly.
Also, as far as line of sight goes, can you shoot "through" friendly characters if both characters are grounded/hovering/soaring to target another charcter who is grounded/hovering/soaring? In addition, am I correct in believeing that a hovering character is not hindered by a grounded character and a soaring character is not hindered by a hovering character? Can a grounded attacker make a ranged combat attack on a hovering character if a grounded character (friendly or not) is in the line of sight?
I know these may seem like weird questions but I hope someone will take the time to help me out. Any input received will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ah... the nuances to the game...
Fliers can always make ranged attacks, regardless of if there is someone adjacent or not. Non-fliers can make ranged attacks against adjacent fliers as long as the non-flier is not also adjacent to an opposing non-flier.

Nope. The only time a character (friendly or not) doesn't block LOF is when using the Trick Shot Feat or in the case of TK. The fig being TKed doesn't block the LOF of the TKer.

Treat hovering characters as if they were grounded for all LOF purposes.

Hopefully, I answered this above. If not, let us know.

No problem at all... that's what we're here for. Welcome to the game!

A grounded character may make a ranged combat attack on a soaring character in an adjoining square (if the grounded character is a non-flyer it must not be adjacent to any other opposing characters). Remember, the grounded character is not adjacent to the soaring character. (Grounded characters are not adjacent to soaring characters.)

Of course it doesn't hurt that a non-soaring, non-elevated hovering character is grounded.
What HC1234 is getting at is that the term grounded refers to a character which is neither elevated nor soaring; the only simple term for a non-flier, really, is non-flier.
To round out your LoF questions, the elevated breakdown--- LoF from an elevated figure against a grounded one is not blocked by figures, but will be blocked by blocking terrain in squares other than the elevated figure's. LoF between two elevated figures ignores grounded figures or terrain, but is affected by elevated figures and terrain.

Thanks for the help and the humor (Heroclix1234). I am playing tonight and the info you all have given me will help me strategize. You guys are awesome. I will continue to seek answers on my own but if I ever have anymore questions I will be sure to post here. This web site is an invaluable resource for this truly excellent game. Thanks again.
