At his parents’ grave, Bruce Wayne swore an oath that he would do everything in his power to fight evil, to protect Gotham City…his city. Now, with the help of others, Batman remains the dark protector of Gotham City, and the leader of the Gotham Knights.
The Batman sat in his chair, staring up at the large monitor of the immense Bat-cave computer, his fingers steepled in front of his face, his cape draped behind the chair back. On the screen was dotted mugshots of the major criminals that had escaped from the Arkham breakout.* While many of the Arkham inmates were fairly harmless due to medication, there were a fair number of them that were quite dangerous, even with all of Jeremiah Arkham’s treatments. Batman would leave the lesser criminals to the police, but even so, he still had a lot of work on his hands.
(*In Titans #3, as if you didn’t already know!)
Batman heard Alfred walk into the large cavern, but he didn’t turn around.
“May I suggest some rest, Sir?” Alfred said, pretending to dust some of the equipment.
“Feel free,” Batman said quietly.
“By my reckoning, you haven’t slept in two days.”
“Correct.”
“Do you not consider that unhealthy?”
“I can go a lot longer than this, Alfred. Now, if you would?”
“Of course, Sir,” Alfred said drolly. “I certainly wouldn’t want to be in your way.”
“Batman, come in,”
Batman pressed the earpiece to his ear while picking up the mouthpiece. “Yes.”
“This is Batgirl. I’ve run into some of the inmates we’re looking for.”
“Who?”
“Killer Croc, the Riddler, and the Mad Hatter. Looks like they’re having some kind of meeting.”
“In broad daylight?”
“It’s two in the morning,” Batgirl answered.
“Of course. Hold your surveillance; I’m on my way. If they move, follow them. At a distance,” Batman concluded with emphasis. He didn’t want the daughter of Commissioner Jim Gordon trying to take on Killer Croc alone.
The Batman got up from his chair and moved quickly to the Batmobile. The night was far from over.
Batman fired a grappling hook, and swung over to the roof where Batgirl was waiting.
“They still there?” He asked, causing her to jump and turn around.
“Oh, it’s you. Yeah, they’re still there.” Batgirl pointed to where the supervillains were hiding, and Batman raised a pair of binoculars to study them more closely. “They’ve been there for quite a while.”
“Alright, let’s—” Batman began, and then held up his hand. “Wait.” He turned around to fix his gaze on the chimney stack behind him. A moment later two female figures stepped out from behind it. “Catwoman.”
“You found me.”
“What’s she doing here?” Batman asked, motioning to the masked girl behind Catwoman. She called herself the Spoiler; she was the daughter of a criminal, and had become a masked vigilante to try to make up for her father’s crimes. Batman had never approved of such a young girl putting herself in danger, and had even tried to talk her out of it, but she had refused.
“I thought she could use a little help getting off her feet,” Catwoman replied, “Now that I’ve gone straight. Why should you be the only one with a kid sidekick?”
“Go home.”
“Oh, do we have to do this dance every time?” Catwoman asked, slinking a little closer.
“Apparently. Leave.”
Catwoman moved toward Batman, putting her face just inches away from his. “You can’t stop me,” she whispered coyly.
“Try me,” Batman said through gritted teeth. Catwoman stepped back. “I’m going now, and you will not follow me.”
“I’ll try,” Catwoman said with a smirk.
Batman fired a grappling hook and swung off the roof, closely followed by Batgirl.
On another roof across the street…
“Command, this is Unit 7. We are in position to neutralize the targets; however, a new target has moved into position. It’s the Batman. Please advise.”
Halfway across the country, a man stood alone in a room, glancing at the monitor with a live video feed of what the agent saw. He looked in surprise at the dark figure of the Batman, wrapped in shadows, even after coming down from the roof.
“Make the vigilante your prime target. The villains can always be found easily enough.”
“Wilco.” The Checkmate Knight looked through his scope at the Batman, knowing that it was very likely he would spring into action quite soon. His finger was just about to squeeze on the trigger, when, in a split-second, a whip snapped out, snaking around his gun, which was then wrenched away from him.
“Careful,” Catwoman said, “You could hurt someone with that.”
“Can’t follow orders,” Batman muttered, as he prepared for Killer Croc and the others to attack.

Marvel 2 is the map; special rules for set-up. All the pieces still set up on the first two squares closest to the edge, but they set up in four different “quadrants.” Batman and Batgirl are on the purple roof, Catwoman and Spoiler are on the pale green roof, the Checkmate Agents on the yellow, and the supervillains on the grass. You can set up in the four squares closest to the perpendicular edge. The Checkmate pieces can leave the roof as if they have Leap/Climb, but this only applies to that specific roof. Oh yeah, and the “Darkness” BFC is in play.
Well I rolled a 3 for initiative. I also see that we are using those dang BFC's (I HATE THOSE THINGS!)
Anyways good luck. Since we are both on the same side of the world we should be on at the same time most times so we might finish this quicker.

I'm just experimenting. I thought a card like "Darkness" might lend a little atmosphere to a Batman fight; but don't worry, I doubt I'll make a habit of it.
And you never know, if it's really seeming like a bad idea, I might just have the moon come out halfway through the fight.
I only say that because the last few games I played with BFC's it was bad for me, not necessarily the game. One thing BFC's where you have to roll dice make these PBP games go on for a LONG TIME!! All the extra rolling is murder.

Actually, we're not on the same side of the world. I'm in Australia...mate! But don't worry, I'm usually on a lot and post regularly.
The extra die rolling shouldn't really be a problem with the honour system. I like the choice, although Darkness only disadvantages my Checkmate Agents, since no one else has a range greater than 6. Poor guys...their 8 range was about the only thing they had going for them. Oh, and I suppose it hurts your Outwit a little as well.
Hey what on earth did you guys mean when you said that I have the 'figure advantage'? Is that because I have more figures? Because I don't see how that can be called an advantage in a 200 pt game, with no leadership and no free movers. I'd much rather have 4 figures any day.
I like how you made Spoiler as Catwoman's side kick. Makes sense.
Christ did not come to condemn the world, but to save it.
Plus...I have Mad Hatter...there's a 26 pt handicap right there!
I was just looking over his stats. I thought I might be able to use him, since I figured he could share Croc's AV...but then I noticed he has no TA!! Totally worthless figure!

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about that. I usually give a team like that a little chance to get an extra action per turn (like Mysterio got in X-Men #2). Do you mind if we do that, Fut? (You would be within your rights to refuse since I already posted the scenario.)

Does that mean I place my team first?
Since I chose which side you guys are on, I guess that would mean you get to take your turn first, unless you feel there's an advantage in setting up first. Your choice.
I have no objection to a Leadership roll per turn for Wakandaman's troops. If Wakanda agrees then lets get goin. As to my reason I am in Korea for 6 months for work reasons.

Well since RB said that the V Checkmate Agent is my Knight, how about if we just say that he has leadership. That way if you KO him you can get rid of my possible extra action.
I'll set up shortly as soon as I find out the grid co-ordinates on CM. I can't believe I haven't bookmarked that page before!

I don't think you did an objects roll, but I'll assume you'll do better than a 1 and therefore you'll get the two heavies and one light. Not that it is likely to make a difference.
Heavy at O15. Lights at P15 & O16. Construction work going on in the middle of the street!
