So, last weekend was Wizard World LA, and more importantly to me, the first iteration of the Team RealmWorx HeroClix squad.
Above is the team photo, plus or minus a few members. Team RealmWorx LA was - Magus390 - Bad6423 - sylentspy - Bubblehead - croloris - ro_gan - DOOM's Medic - mola ram - negativsteve...and my notes list groovyboy as the mascot? (That can't be right.)
I think we can all be very proud of the way Team RW represented the Realms at the events this past weekend...winning the first ever Battle for Dark Phoenix and placing several team members in the final event. For full details...please check out this thread.
In the "a picture is worth a thousand words" category...stop on over to the updated WW: LA photo gallery for some more pix from the event.
One thing I couldn't help but notice...Black Adam seemed to be everywhere. The sealed portion was played with Unleashed boosters...and it sounds like about everyone that pulled a Black Adam played him.
On top of that, let's take a quick look at the overall winner's constructed team...
V Black Adam
V Night Wing
R Jean Grey
E Con Artist
R Paramedic
R Destiny
The support staff is pretty standard...but the choice to use Black Adam as the big gun...especially after all of the hype surrounding figures like Ultimate Thor and Amazo...and interesting choice. To read more details...please feel free to click on over to this thread.
Black Adam just doesn't seem that intimidating, he has a low defense, only 3 damage...but give him a dumpster and let him go to town.
Of interesting note...I'm willing to bet you could assemble the above team for less than twenty dollars...cheaper than some uniques, and less expensive than some single cards in other games. If this doesn't prove that you don't NEED to spend the big bucks to be competitive in this game, I don't know what does.
Finally, I wanted to relay my Legacy Marquee experience to you all. First off, take a gander at the very cool looking Jimmy Olson LE Bystander Token...it's gold!
There were six players at Mind Games in Toledo, OH tonight, myself included.
Here's what I pulled...
v Sinestro
r Sinestro
r Captain Atom
r Captain Atom
r Major Force
v Wildfire
r Star-Spangled Kid
e Star-Spangled Kid
r Power Girl
r Impulse
r Hourman
bt Ma Hunkle
bt Dr. Jeremiah Arkham
ft Fortitude
Vets Wildfire and Sinestro really stood out to me, so I thought, "Hey, what the heck, why not play them both?" So that's what I did. I rounded out my 300 squad with Ma Hunkle.
Team:
v Sinestro
v Wildfire
bt Ma Hunkle
This was going to be a fun team, and I knew it would play very different than most teams I would normally use.
Game one was against Norm...who I may have met in passing before, but had certainly never played. His force was:
v Batman
e Talia
v Enchantress
r Jinx
bt Carol Ferris
We played indoors, Bats and Talia moved out into Stealthed positions. Wildfire and Sinesto swung out and around, trying to drive out the Jinx/Enchantress/BT cluster. This was a great setup on Norms part...a successful double EE would activate Suicide Squad for both ladies. Plus, with each having Phasing, they would be hard to pin down.
I miss some initial attacks...Wildfire gets chewed up with Psychic Blast...and eventually Bats is able to hunt down Sinestro. Ma Hunkle trades with Talia...almost...Talia crit misses and Ma crit hits...but takes the shot from Batman to end it.
Game two is against an old CCG friend Dennis, whom I've also never played in 'Clix. His team was:
v Superwoman
r Joker
v Stargirl
e Spoiler
I setup in range and Outwit Jokers Outwit...Superwoman goes the long way around to flank Wildfire. I can either move and Outwit her, or Running Shot her with Sinestro...I go for the RS and miss...as does Wildfire...who gets nailed with a heavy next turn on the push. My dice go cold, and my decent rolls get re-rolled away...I take Spoiler...but Sinestro also falls to Superwoman.
Game three is versus Todd, a frequent 'Clix sparring partner. Todd's team is:
v The Demon
e Sinestro
r Ravager
bt Pie-Face
Todd's has been saving Deep Shadows all day for me...so we duke it out in the Museum with the lights out. Todd plays it cagey...The Demon stays on his Jason Blood click most of the game...I can't draw a bead on Ravager, and she nails Wildfire with Blades. It takes both Sinestro and Wildfire to finish her...but by now the Demon is in my Sinestro's grill, and Wildfire is hurting. A parting shot by Wildfire finishes off The Demon who can't take the heat from Sinestro either...putting Wildfire on his Phasing/Impervious click thanks to the push and Mystics TA. It's E Sinestro vs. V Sinestro...back and forth and back and forth...after SEVERAL tries...I finally hit with my Sinestro...ending the game. Finally a win!
I had a great time...and Tim the judge was good enough to hook me up with a r and v Bats...I guess he had enough of my belly-aching that I hadn't pulled a single Bat yet!
Wow...that's it for this week...check back next time...see you in seven!

ya thats it you big crybaby(boo hoo i have no batman) ... its was a fun time.. but the (uk)indy booster i opened and not having one in there sux hardcore..oh ya first post too....
I was supposed to be in the pic... but i ditched the tourney early on sunday because me and the GF had a long trip to san fran... it was a great event and I enjoyed meeting up with the hcrealms guys, wish I coulda spent more time w/ them though... maybe some other time . Thanks for setting this all up webhead .
When playing a multiple BFC game a week or so ago I determined that good old black adam is really only adversly affected by crosswinds. All the others ethier don't effect him (he has no range, doesn't need perplex or outwit, etc...) So in the modern game of battlefield conditions, he's a pretty "safe" brick to choose. He love ICWO and the dumpster...

*sobs* i just wish i was cool enough to be in one of those pics, or at least make the team. oh well, at least this way i can say i did better than most of webhead's team
I'm most likely wrong on that being mola ram. I met so many people from the 'Realms over the weekend that faces/names/IDs were starting to blur... :disappoin
