How well the figure does what it is supposed to do. JUGGERNAUT SMASH! CAIN PAIN! Feel free to yell out these video game catchphrases when you're dishing out the hurt with Cain Marko (give Cain the Unstoppable feat and add NOTHING STOPS THE JUGGERNAUT to your list of witty battle cries).
At a full 11 clicks of life, Cain's base damage is 3 for all but the first two clicks, but a full dial of Super Strength can help in augmenting/enhancing it. Cain's defense has 17-16-15 on both the Impervious and Invulnerability clicks followed up with five clicks of Toughness to round him out. While Cain has four clicks of Charge, he does "two clicks with - three clicks without - two clicks with" leaving him with mid-dial Charge.
What makes Cain really desirable is his starting 12 Attack Value (AV) which drops to an 11, then two clicks at 10, and then finally a few clicks with 9s, 8s, and 7s. All in all, as he takes damage he should still be dishing it out.
Since Cain has a full dial of Super Strength, bring out the 3D objects to really give him some options. With them, Cain can hit harder (+1 to damage dealt), throw the crate 8 squares, Incapacitate someone with the Light Pole, increase his AV (just because you can ), and keep a heavy object handy at all times (Dumpster). Just a tip: When playing Cain or anyone else with Super Strength, always evaluate the ranged combat option before moving or Charging.
Relevant Battlefield Conditions and Feats Unstoppable – For 5 points, unless his Super Strength is Outwitted, Cain will never have to worry about hindering terrain. Since his damage never dips below a 3, Cain can smack a wall as he's waddling about; this can be handy on those non-Charge clicks. Atlantis Rising – Good when used in conjunction with the above. Earthquake – Truthfully, I just love the randomness of this card. Never the less, Cain can take a click and keep on ticking. Power Dampening Field – With only the first two clicks having a damage value greater than 3 and none of the rest dipping below 3, Cain will benefit from this more than he loses from it. Damage Shield – With six clicks of Impervious/Invulnerability and the fact that Cain intends on being in close combat, this isn't too bad of an idea. Add Armor Piercing to Cain as well and make sure that this feat's effect sticks. Haymaker – Although this won't work when Power Dampening Field is in play, Cain's AV is high enough overall that this "Close Combat Expert" card can be useful for when a heavy object isn't available. In Contact with Oracle – The 8 movement is definitely the worst part of Cain. Not only can this fix that, but it can also nullify Haymaker's -1. Fortitude – Keep Cain going strong. Rip It Up – Useful for when all of the regular objects are gone or are out of reach.
Total cost of a New and Improved Cain Marko: 245* points
*If you have no other figures with Super Strength or if you'd like, for the same price, you can drop Rip It Up and put on Lazarus Pit.
Is Cain worth playing? Yeppers Rating: 9/10 Stars
How the figure compares to the REVs.
Cain is 45% E, 45% V, and 10% his own click.
For the points, Cain costs 1 more than the V and 15 more than the E.
By the numbers, Cain has the same base damage stats as the V (which are only different from the E on click 3) and basically the same defensive stats as the E (E starts off 18-17-16 while Cain starts with 17-16-15). Cain has better movement than the V which has better movement than the E.
Power-wise, Cain has the same defense pattern as the E and four clicks of Charge like the V (though Cain's isn't continuous). Super Strength down the dial no matter which Juggernaut you are. The E has a full dial of Battle Fury while neither the V nor Cain have any.
The 10% that is all Cain-pain is in the AV. While the E has one click with a 10 AV and the V has two clicks with a 10 AV, it's Cain's starting 12 and continually good AV that makes him really stand out from the REVs.
With respect to the REVs, is Cain worth getting? 8-Ball says Yes Rating: 9/10 Stars
Enjoy the Fantastic Forces Marquee this weekend!! Just remember, if you want Reed Richards, bring Rice Krispie Treats for everyone. If you want Cain Marko, buy the three cheesiest boosters you can find.
Cain Marko is everything I always wished the Veteran Juggernaut from IC was - nothing less than 3 damage on any click, Super Strength all the way down, and Charge, not to mention replacing some of his Inv. with Impervious. I can't wait to get my hands on one (the REV are also quite good, but the LE outshines them to a great degree)

Well, if you would ever show up to any of the games I would let you drool over mine!
I have really just been itching for the chance to use this figure. The right opportunity just hasn't come up yet.
Yeah, I can't wait for an opportunity to use Cain or the E Juggernaut, after having tasted the awesomeness of the V, when I used him on an X-Men team. Very sweet figure indeed!
To me, Juggernaut is the best ground pounder in the game.
Great review! TSF!
1/6th of the Brothers Prob. '19-'20 Season: 15-13(8 events) 2 wins, 2nd XDPS PR 9-7, 7th SOC
Played this Beast in a tourney last weekend. Won my first 2 games. One against a Fantastic Four 19 Defense team (Disbanded Though The next against a spider man wild card team. Lost in the final on a tactical error. But this guy is amazing. He just keeps going and going.
You'll never see me choose the experienced Juggernaut over the LE, ever. Why? Battle Fury. I smoked one of my buddies at the pre-release because of it. He was running an Exp Juggernaut, I played Atlantis Rising, which dropped his movement to a mighty big 4. He couldn't be carried, so I took out the rest of his team quick and spent the rest of the game on rooftop terrain, with Lockjaw's butt blocking the ladder!
That ranged option thespiderfly mentioned is definitely a difference maker.
I'm glad I pulled one of these in one of my first boosters from this set. I've already used him quite a few times and had great success w/ him. He hangs around forever. I'm not usually a huge fan of no-range bricks but Cain Marko is definitely one of my favorite pieces.
Provided that water terrain is a "hindering terrain feature", I disagree with your assessment.
Water terrain is hindering terrain for movement purposes only - it doesn't interfere with LOS at all. That's the only reason the term Water Terrain even exists, to keep it clear what hinders LOS and what doesn't. So yeah, Unstoppable lets Juggy slog through the water at full speed.
