last night in a booster draft i pulled a darkness within and a maggie sawyer..and then attached them both to starfire.

just to make sure i got thi right...every time i fired starfire, i gave the push to maggie, who, willpower never took it, and therefore never died

did i get that right?

The card supports your rationale, but the ruling coming down the pipe is that it causes push damage like Pounce, etc.

That is correct, yes. Willpower pieces are a Darkness Within character's best friend, if you aren't trying to use them to actually activate figures with activation clicks and not use a token. My case hasn't arrived yet, but I'm looking forward to using Hal Jordan with Hawk- Running Shot and get the damage boost, drop the click of damage on Hawk. Next turn, TK him forward to charge and grab a heavy for 5 damage and a 12 attack. Nobody takes a click of pushing damage
I've got a sneaking suspicion that one of these days Darkness Within may be FAQ'ed to where the pushing damage resembles that of other feat cards (cannot be reduced by Willpower) but for now, the plan is solid.

I can only hope that that booster draft wasn't at a tournament, although I've been hearing lotsa rumors that judges are allowing Icons figures before they're tournament legal.

i think i read somewhere that unless a feat card specifically says the damaged ignores mastermind, it doesnt ignore it.

which lead me to believe that it was designed that way...

furthermore, from a game play perspective it doesn't seem misbalancing cause ICWO is a 10-point +1 anywhere and this is a +1 bump only to damage and it costs 25 points (in my with-maggie-sawyer senario).

Oh no! I pulled Rookie Superman and Rookie Batman, plus Darkness Within in a draft. However, I gave the clicks of damage to Batman whenever Superman used it! Damn, I feel stupid...

I should clarify....changing an event from Constructed to Draft is not okay, but allowing a new expansion's figures in a tournament before its street legal date is okay.

You are correct on that one. The Rules Arb has already said that was something that will most likely be in the Errata. The Push Damage caused by Darkness Within will NOT be reducable by Willpower.

But play it the way it's written till the FAQ is released...If the Judge lets you.

so wait, when i pounce, do i take a clix of unavoidable damage plus 2 action tokens? and when i used darkness within, i can mastermind it, and will power it and what not? do damage reducers stop darkeness?

No, one click of unavoidable ("pushing") damage and one action token.

Mastermind, no. Willpower, yes- until it's ruled otherwise. Damage reducers, no.

Actually, according to the PAC , why cant it be masterminded? Both have the "Deal damage" descriptor.

Maybe, but it's Pushing damage, and you can't ever mastermind or reduce that.
