Can I use darkness within on a figure, then tk that figure and then attack with it?
Good question. Based on the wording of the Feat, I'd say "yes". It is similar to Enhancement, but Enhancement specifies that it is used *during* the ranged attack. Meanwhile, Darkness Within specifies that it is used before an attack.
I suppose it boils down to what exactly "before an attack" means? Does it mean "immediately before an attack"? If it does, then your scenario wouldn't work. However, if it is just "anytime before an attack" then it would be almost like Perplex, and you could TK the attacking figure just fine.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I haven't seen this particular question come up on the Wizkids board, but maybe some of you that hang out there more frequently than I do have seen something. Funky? PL? Anyone?
I believe the current 'feeling' on this card is, the attack must come immediately after the pushing damage, but since I cannot access the WK Judges Forum for some reason, I cannot comfirm nor deny this.
In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
I've always taken "Once per turn before this character makes an attack" to mean that you've given your figure a Close Combat Action, now before you make that attack you can use this feat.
That means I rule for a charge action that they can move next to a friendly figure and then suck some life from them after the move part but before the attack portion of a Charge action.
That make any sense? It's just how I rule it since there isn't anything official yet.

And that could very well be the case. I find the wording on this card to be rather ambiguous as to the exact usage. The overall effect is pretty clear, but the specifics are where it starts to get hairy.
I have said it before, for things like EE and LOF from elevation, and I'll say it again now: I am really looking forward to the FAQ for Icons.
Although the wording is ambiguous, I believe H10 ruled that the attack has to occur immediately after using DW. It sounds like the intent is to prevent its use merely as a token-less push. I don't know that I've seen it said like that though. I've been wondering if a player has to have an action available to use DW - i.e. could a player, at the end of his turn after all his actions have been used - use DW?

This is one of those question still Pending. Hair10 had initially said it was "like" Enhancement. If that's the case the there are still some "Timing" Issues to be worked out for that card.

I pulled this at a marquee last night. I assigned it to R Blackfire and had her positioned next to V Batman. I gave him(with Willpower) the push, moved her on a Running Shot to attack my opponents E Blackfire.
I was able to argue my way sucessfully with the judge because of the wording on the card.
It does not state it is a "Close Combat Action", it doesn't state that the push damage overrides Willpower.
I missed the roll(twice )!
My opponent then had Wonder Woman carry Joker up next to Bats, Hit for 4 w/Blackfire & next turn Poisoned Bats, smacked him with a heavy object on a Charge, and had Joker kill him for double points!!
But I won the feat arguement.

Below is unfounded speculation on my part...Hopefully the timing of the FEAT will be explained in a document later:
If it works "like" Enhancement, except for ALL Attacks CC and Ranged, then according to the rules the following would be true.
Darkness Within could only be actived PRIOR to the attack roll, but after Movement and assigning the action. Meaning all Replacement Values would already be set. Per the Feat Card RULES in Icon's; IF the feat card modifies the Damage Value, the modifier occurs AFTER replacement. This card modifies Damage Values. Why is this important?
EE and Incap can no longer be modified, even by this card. But I'm sure this was a reason for the new ruling on those two powers(especially EE) for 15 points you get free Enhancement for your shot.
Quake and PW might be able to have thier Damage Values Modified from 2 to 3 or 1 to 2. PW does not ignore Feat Cards attached to the figure using PW. So you could use this feat to PW EVERYONE in Range for 2 Damage. The same would go for Quake. You could up the Damage from 2 to 3 or 1 to 2 with this card and affect all ADJACENT Opposing figures.
Also there is the Timing of the PUSH CLICK from Darkness Within. Does the Push happen Prior to the attack? If so imagine an E Taskmaster(on his first click) sitting around waiting for KC GL to RS next to him. KC GL RS's adjacent and gives E Taskmaster a Click(+1 to GL's Damage). Putting him (E TAsky) on Enhancement. This would give GL another +1 to his damage. Now Tasky copies SHEILD and you put a token on him for a another +1.
See what I mean, so the timing of the action and resolution of the Push Damage still needs to be worked out. You should swing by the WizKids Judges Forum sometime and see what's up.
