Here's a newbie question, but from someone who has been playing forever...maybe incorrectly. I always thought that unless you had Flight, HSS, or Leap Climb, you had to stop when you got base to base with enemy and could not pick up object they were on top of until next turn. Someone has pointed out the the rules say only:
"A character can pick up an object even if another character occupies
the same square as the object (doing so has no effect on the character occupying the same square as the object)."
and only states this when some tries to charge:
"A character using Charge with Super Strength cannot pick up an object as it moves into a square adjacent to an
opposing character, unless the Charging character has another power or ability that allows it to ignore the effects
of other opposing characters on movement."
So if you don't use charge then you can walk up to them and yank the item from underneath them in one turn?
From the Icons Rule Book (page 18, under the Moving Your Character heading from 17):
A character can move through a square occupied by a friendly character, but it cannot move through a square occupied by an opposing character. A character must end its movement if it enters a square adjacent to an opposing character.
And from the PAC:
SUPER STRENGTH (optional): When this character moves as part of a move action, power action, or free action, it may pick up an object. The object...
As you can see, a figure must move to pick up an object, and its movement *ends* as soon as it becomes adjacent to an opposing figure. Unless the moving figure has some way to ignore opposing figures during movement (i.e. flight, HSS, L/C, etc), then it may not pick up the object.
Charge does *not* ignore movement. The Charge movement ends when the Charger becomes adjacent to an opposing figure. However, since Charge allows a free Close Combat Action at the *end* of the movement, and the movement just ended, you may still attack the opponent. You can't take the object it is hiding on, though.
The whole reason that this line, "A character can pick up an object even if another character occupies the same square as the object (doing so has no effect on the character occupying the same square as the object)," exists is so that we understand that figures *can* take objects out from under other figures, if they have a means of moving as they approach the figure. A flying, Super Strength figure could steal Black Panther's object in one action. A charging Rhino could not. He'd have to Charge in, make his attack, then try and roll break away on a later turn. If the breakaway was successful, the object could then be taken as Rhino moves away.
As picking up an object is a free action, which from my understanding can happen at any point in the characters move, why can't he still pick it up as his move is ending at the point of contact with the opposing figure. I mean free action is a free action, is it not?
As I understand it, the problem is that the object has to be picked up during the move, and as soon as you enter base contact, the move ends unless you have some way of ignoring figure bases (L/C, Phasing, HSS, flight, Serpent Society TA)

And, of all of those, the only one that works with charge is flight. Just another reason why charging flying bricks are superior

but is picking up an object really a free action, because outwit is a free action and you can't outwit in the middle of a movement, same with perplex? someone correct me if i'm wrong tho.
no, picking up an item is not an action, but it requires a power action, movement action, or free action that has movement and you can pick up an object during that movement

On the other hand, there is a certain chamr to run up with a HSSer, snatch the object out from under the enemy, bash them in the head with it and then run away again....

Especially if they WERE stealthed by standing on it.

during the pre-release, i thought it was a good idea to absorb the object they were standing on with Nanobots until the judge kindly asked me to reread the card

One might argue, though, that a figure that is standing on an object is technically not adjacent to it... Of course, it is a ridicilous interpretation, but the argument could be made.
