It works fine.

Support prevents the use of modifiers during the Support action (no Perplex, ICWO, anything that adds or subtracts). Support places no restriction at all on replacement values. Replacement values cover things like Defend, JSA/Defenders TA, Sinister Synidcate/Batman Enemies TA, alt FF TA, etc.

It wouldn't work with JSA or Defenders because that is only when you have been attackedis your defense replaced.

While there can be no modifiers to the Support roll, it is perfectly acceptable to replace the Defense value via a TA or Defend power.

And Support has a close combat action that can target friendly characters. So the JSA character is being 'attacked'.
