I'm sure this has been asked before but I don't know the ruling on it. Were playing a highlander game coming up with only one TA.

I wanted to use Armor Wars Magento and Ultimates "Xorn" Magento. They are really two different people. One is the evil Xorn twin but the bases still say Magneto. So would I be able to play the both of them or 'can there be only one'

This isn't so much an official rules question as it is a house rules question. I'm sure some people will chime in with their opinions, but keep in mind they're only opinions.

If you're playing at a Venue, ask the Judge (preferably before it comes up). If you're playing amongst your friends, try to come to an agreement. (I don't know that "A bunch of guys on the internet agree with me" as an argument is going to help you.)

FWIW, our simple "No Dupes" rule (No dupes by name or sculpt) would prohibit you from playing him (but we don't use that rule nearly all the time, just special occasions).

I'm going to put my foot down as a Grant Morrison fan and say they are the same person. Anything Chuck Austen tries to tell you about Xorn is a travesty.

As for all house rule Highlander games I've ever played, you wouldn't be able to use them since they have the same name. As pseudosoldie said, though, you should talk to your judge.

But don't say they aren't the same person... that just hurts my heart.

So at your place if your playing highlander you can only play say one of the Green Lantern's? They do all have the same name on their base, but you got KC GL, Hal, Kyle, and Jon. I understand trying to keep the same character from being played but it seems like it would get in the way in others.

If we were playing Highlander, I'd have to break out my cards. Normally I only get to play online, though.

But at my old Venue, if I had "No Dupes" as a rule for a scenario, it would mean "by name or sculpt." Yes, that would rule out multiple GLs (although in 300 point games it wasn't usually a problem).

Still, if someone has a rule that is only slightly more complicated than "No dupes by name or sculpt" that a non-comics reader can intuitively grasp, I'd love to hear it. Heck, I had asked for it in a previous sig of mine...
