"King in Check"

Batman and his team strolled into the Markovian palace to hold a conference with now-King Brian Markov - former super-hero and member of the Outsiders.

“Batman,” the King declared as his former mentor appeared from the darkness in his throne-room. “How good to see you. What brings you out to Markovia?”

“I have some questions for you, Prince,” Batman said, getting straight to the point.

“King, Batman. I am now a King.”

“So you are,” Batman said. “Odd how your brother seems to have disappeared. Seems similar to the plot of Baron Beldam’s. You remember, don’t you? It was the plot that we foiled on our first meeting. Although, as I seem to recall, your brother has a nephew. Wouldn‘t that make you only a regent?”

“A technicality,” the King said, his tone revealing his displeasure. “You’re right, however; it IS an odd coincidence, I’ll grant you that. Surely, you’ve come all this way for more then talking about recent Markovian affairs. That could have been handled by a phone call. What is it you truly want, Dark Knight?”

“You lied,” Batman said, cutting to the chase in a gravelly tone. “You said you saw the rest of the Outsiders die. That only your superior durability kept you alive. Yet they are all alive, and now being used as pawns against me.”

“Yes. They are.”

“You were working for Checkmate, then. When did they abduct you? Before that final mission, but for how long before? You led them into a trap to be brainwashed - why?”

Something dark crossed the King’s face as he spoke. “They are not the only ones who were led into a trap,” Geo-force said, standing up as the Dutchess stepped from behind the throne. “Guards! To me!”

“This time, I don’t have to go easy on you,” The Dutchess said, flicking her whip out and slashing a stone statue in half.

I'll go for a little revenge against the Knights.

Do you use Cyberboard? I'd like to use the Danger Room map (from the Marvel Map Set, not the new one) but Cyberboard is the only place I can find an on-line copy. If you don't have it, lets use the Indy HQ as my second choice.

The Guards let out a battle cry and charged after him.

As the moved forward, an Officer at the back of the throne room smirked to himself and kept a close eye on his "agent".
