Does using objects count towards rule of 3?

Can I perplex my damage from 2 to 4 and then use a heavy object if I have SS to smash someone with a close combat attack?

Yes. The Rule of 3 only applies to damage value. Objects add to damage dealt, which does not fall under the Rule of 3 - if it did, Impervious wouldn't be able to reduce damage dealt by more than 3 points.
