I just saw the Geoforce 9 Fire, Ice, Mystic and Energy Effect markers. While I think the sculpts look great, whats the point of these markers? Are part of an option rule or just used for barrier pieces?

There is no "point" to these other than to give the game a 3-D feel. I purchased them and am quite happy with them. The look on my opponent's face is pretty neat when I pull out the "Mystic Force Field" when Sue Storm puts up her barrier. Or Pyro throws his fire barrier around an opponent. It also starts a fun conversation and both of us have a good game.

But that is about all.

These are neat pieces. I have made some that are similar based on Geoforce's idea. They are especially cool if you use a full 3-D playing area.

I think you mean Gale Force 9, instead of Geoforce 9. I bought them, and I am quiet happy with them. My only gripe is with the price. $12 for a pack of 4 is a little too high, but they do add to the game.
