Unofficial cameo appearances across company lines.
Over the past year or so I've been buying up all of the back issues for Simonson's run on Thor. I already had two of the trades, so it's just stuff not covered in them. While reading Thor #341 I came across a great little cross company tidbit.
Thor is asking Nick Fury for help in setting up a new identity. After having a 'costume change' Nick tells him it's still not good enough, and pulls out a pair of glasses saying something like 'They work for that other guy.' He then leads Thor out while he goes to adress a press con. When Thor opens the door he accidentally knocks over a bespectacled dark haired man in a blue suit. Thor appologizes and the the man, Clark, appologizes back saying it was his fault for being so clumsy. A dark haired woman shows up and tells Clark to hury up or they'll be late for the press conference. Clark shoves his glasses back on, picks up his papers, and then muses 'could that have been...nah....'
Anyone else know of any unofficial cross over between the two? I.E. Maybe Perry is yelling at Clark for not interviewing that viking guy with a hammer, and Clark says something about him being a pompous jerk or something
I know Marvel used to do that kind of stuff as small throw away lines (where Batman or Superman might get mentioned or seen in passing, out of costume), did DC ever do that (when I was reading Batman and the Flash I can't remember it ever happening).

"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"
The first run of The Ultimates has a lavish " grand opening" of the Triskelion, and inside Tony Stark is interviewed by what very very obviously is Lois, Clark and Jimmy.

Keith Giffen is a big fan of doing such things. If its done by Giffen, there's a good chance there's a cameo.
Such as from "The Great Darkness Saga" a long epic story done in the early 80s for the Legion of Superheroes. Planet Daxam is evacuated, and you see what is obviously a Thor running away as well. So apparently Thor's not an Asgardian he's a Daxamite!
I love though Giffen's "Scarlet Skier".
Ambush Bug pops up in cameos everywhere, but not all too often in Marvel books. Look for his antenna and that's his only appearance usually.
Then of course there's the "cameos" by characters that are knock offs, like Sentry and the Squadron Supreme, do they count as cameos since they're so obviously supposed to be that universe's version of their 'originator' or not?
Gaiman's Death pops up a fair amount in Marvel, both in PAD's books and I noticed recently when Thanos was associating with Mistress Death she looked awfully familiar.

As far as cameos go, The arm/shoulder of what looks like Shocker is in one panel, and another panel shows a man in a purple/crimson cloak wearing a helmet that was open in a T-shape (open across the eyes & down the nose, mouth and chin).
LOTS of them, in there!

Another in Kingdom Come, during the scene where Superman is recruiting metahumans in the bar there is a charecter with white hair and a head dress that resembles Strom
Lois and Clark show up during Days of Future Past, as well.
Mr Myxyzptlk disappears with a "pop" sound commenting on going off to annoy a different universe-- clearly implying that he is also Impossible Man.
In the early 70's an issue of the Avengers and an issue of JLA both take place in the same town (Rutland, Vermont) on the same Halloween, and the writers of both books (Thomas and Wein) cross over from one into the other, although the heroes never meet each other.
Of course there are a long list of substitute characters:
Squadron Supreme
Champions of Angor
Shi'ar Imperial Guard
Deadpool ( )
Steve Englehart created Mantis at Marvel, who was revealed to be the Celestial Madonna. When he was writing JLA, he instoduced Willow, who was pregnant and spoke the same way. Then she showed up in an indy book he was wrinting, and then eventually back at Marvel (with child) in Silver Surfer.

Thats not Storm. I'll have to check on the Wasp lookalike later.
However, in KC when they charge the goulag, you can see Thor, Spiderman, and Captain America amoung the Justice League.
"Buried Alien" won a race of the fastest grounded speedsters in the Marvel Universe. It was in an issue of Quasar by Mark Gruenwald. He wore red and yellow rags, and didn't remember anything except his name.

Not quite true - he remembered he was involved in a "Great..Infinite even...Crisis" before ending up in the MU.
And he didn't just "win it"...he beat the tar out of everyone considering he didn't "pop" into the race until after it had started, if I remember correctly.
