Is the new Apoc valid here?

yes all though the card was originally designed to enhance the inferior older Apoc.

I dont think the new Apoc will be broken. Notice that I intentionally worded the card so that feats dont work with any of the free power choices.

So just reviewing the choices with new Apoc at a cursory level:

Regen - probably the second best choice, but not really necessary on most clicks, since attacking would be preferable unless he just got lambasted or the opponents are running away. His last 4 clicks have regen anyway so having a second copy doesnt really help.

Willpower - probably the best choice as this will make him brutal on most clicks. However he essentially has willpower 50% of the time anyway on clicks 2 through 5. Where this really helps most is at the end of his dial it doubles his chance of regening.

Mind Control - seems wasteful on a 250 point bruiser

TK - Also seems wasteful on a 250 point bruiser

If you think this is way too powerful I can cut it down to a 50-50 die roll, just like the special power on the new Apoc.

The downside with choising the new Apoc is you can only fit one, maybe two brood warriors on the team. Of course the new Apoc helps to regen the brood, your opponent will more likely focus his energies on taking out Apoc first and the Brood 2nd. This basically means that you will have to push your own Brood to KO him.

Cameron Chase will be key in this matchup as she has stealthed outwit, Mr. Bones will probably trade Outwits with Apoc.

There are also 3 OMACs that have Outwit fairly front loaded and Psychic Blast. I would probably load heavy with the OMACs in this match.

I think its worth trying to see how it plays out.

The Checkmate! team is also fairly interesting as it only requires 185 points in pieces still leaving 215 points to custom the agents you want:

Which means you can fit 2 of the 3 big OMACs on the squad and still get a Checkmate Agent on the squad as well to harass.

Maybe the better option would be to let him choose from the 3 new special powers (to have all the way down his dial, replacing whatever power is currently in that slot).
