THIS WEEK we're focusing on a generic keyword team that looks like a lot of fun!

Total: 495 (It would have been 500, but I got my point blank mixed up with my endurance card, and no one could use point blank.
BATTLEFIELD CONDITIONS: Krakoa the living Island, back alley brawl, Communication breakdown SPECIAL OBJECTS PLAYED: Tombstone, Kinetic Accelorator
Round 1: Played a guy with a hodge podge of wildcards, including Deathstroke, and Clarion for Mystics back up. This friend of mine is still new but really competitive and getting better, so it was really close for most of the game. I played Krakoa, but in setting up the map, I forgot to put it out there and then we forgot about it. Better for me, probably though. I had Zauriel cart out Savage onto the accelorator, Uncle sam ran out, and Forerunner grabbed the tombstone while Harbinger followed. Everyone was pretty front and center. He had Mary Marvel carry Shang Chi straight out, stuck Clarion in hindering terrain center board, then had Dawnstar taxi Deathstroke onto the log crossing the creek. I got a 1 on the accelorator, so Savage just ran all the way over and sat next to deathstroke. Uncle sam came running from eight squares away to roll double 4's and smack Deathy for four, two taken and knocked into the creek. Sam then switched places with Harbinger to get some space. Zauriel charged Mary marvel and missed. Next turn, Savage charges across the log when deathy jumps out of the water and crit hits him for three plus one into the edge of the map for one more! Dawnstar meanwhile is trying to quarry Sam with very little luck. Next few rounds, Shang Chi is trying to get harbinger, Sam runs over and helps with Mary marvel, tying up most of my opponent's team: he's a giant now. Mary is the first to fall, Clarion tries to run away, but gets hit with range from forerunner, then dawnstar, shang chi, then ravager finally managed to make it back over to the fray in time to get hit solid and be gone. I lost Harbinger and Zauriel. 1-0
Round 2, played Communication breakdown, negating the -2 modifier for Sam's move and attack. Now I had a better feel for my team, playing a JSA keyword team with Dr. Midnight, Atom Smasher, future Hourman, and Black Adam. My opponent ran Atom and Hourman up the middle and Black Adam and Dr. Midnight up the side, so I accelerated Zauriel, carrying Savage, toward Adam and missed. Uncle Sam came along, and pretty soon I had Adam down. Meanwhile, forerunner is doing a wicked job of holding down Atom Smasher and Hourman while Harbinger runs over to tie up Dr. Midnight, who had run out to get a clear shot on Sam. When black adam was gone, I pulled Zauriel over and traded with Harbinger to hit Dr. Midnight down. Then Zauriel grabbed Savage, Zauriel being on his 17 defend click now, and runs over and places Savage in base with hourman. Harbinger gets in place to hit Atom Smasher, Sam runs over to hit Hourman, but misses. Forerunner is long gone by this time, Atom Smasher runs away to doc midnight, but hourman running shots a large roll to KO Zauriel. Lucky me, I still pulled out a slight win. now: 2-0
Last round: Back Alley Brawl: THis negated the -2 modifier to Sam's attack. My opponent played several wildcards, clarion, and crisis batgirl, and Cap Marvel Jr. in a Teen Keyword team. I started the same way, running up the middle. But my opponent went first and moved 1 piece in range of Sam: Rookie Speedy from CD. I one-hit KO'd her. Then he ran up Captain Marvel and hit Silver Savage hard, rendering him very useless the rest of the game. (I didn't use him anymore because of all the mystics and he was way deep in his dial.) He then placed Marv J behind a couple of stealthy folks and made a funky L- shape that posed a real problem. So I accelerated Zauriel to a 9-space charge and missed, pushing onto a perplex click. Harbinger pulled him back and Sam pushed to run into the thick of it, forcing him to burn his protected. Sam pushed into giant mode and was tying down just about everyone. In a couple of rounds, forerunner had joined to tie up trickster and batgirl, Halo was outsidering Sam every turn, Marv J had been TK'd to the vine, Zauriel perp'd up his own movement and chased him, Harbinger had clicked onto PC and failed to help Sam quake about six different characters, which would have been cool to see, but would have cost me three clicks in Mystics damamge. Marv J hypersonic'd back over, missed sam, took a hit or two from harbinger while batgirl is making SS rolls out the wazoo. Savage stayed out of the way behind harbinger while sam was slowly whittling away at this piece or that. Suddenly, the buzzer sounded with everyone on the field except Speedy. I got twenty-six points to give me a 3-0 victory and Garth, even though I really wanted Wayne.
This was a super fun team, but I was really, and I mean really, tense. I haven't been in such a close call run in a while. Also I haven't gone 3-0 in a long time. So, great night overall. Thanks!

Just a quick question, how does communication break down and back alley brawl affect Uncle Sams transporter ability? Just curious as to how the wording works.
Communication Breakdown allows the player who plays it to negate all modifications to a single combat value; in this case, he would declare that all attack values couldn't be modified therefore negating the -2 modifier when using the Trans-Move-Attack ability. This a BFC and lasts the enitre game.
However, Back Alley Brawl shouldn't be able to negate the modifier as using the T-M-A is an ability and I believe the +2 modifier from BAB is only applied when an attack uses no powers, feats or abilities. Not 100% sure, but pretty dern sure.

Thanks a heap! the card reads "powers, feats or [i]team[i]abilities. My understanding from discussion I watched were that the move and attack ability falls into none of those categories, so it benefits.

The "Super-Run-Fast Machine", otherwise known as the "Accelerator" is like sprinkles. It just makes everything better. I don't know that this team tackles as many opponents without it, but well played!
