Well, I just noticed something about the upgrade... all the ads now point to ads.realmworx.com... which is blocked by the firewall at work. So every time I go to a page on the forum, I leave two-three bad requests in the work firewall log.

I'll be gone from the forums from work until this changes or I can find a way around it (No, editing the hosts file won't work...)

They're actually blocking ad.realmworx.com? The previous ad server was at realmworx.com/ad (or something like that). My suggestion to you? go to www.opendns.com and run your dns through them; you'll bypass your work's dns server (which is probably where they're blocking you. I have no idea why they would block that though; since it's the exactly IP address as HCRealms.com.

I'll try to wrap my head around it though .. see if we can make it so you're not so productive. LOL!

It's not work specificly blocking you; it's Websense has *.realmworx.com listed under 'Games'. For that matter, they have hcrealms.com listed under 'Games', but for some reason I can still access the forums... go fig. Doesn't work via IP, I think it works by domain name...

I may just have to bite the bullet and up my contribution status so I don't get ads...

A different question:

Why is the site address moreprofitsmoreproblems.com instead of hcrealms.com?

I was under the impression that all levels didn't see ads.

Thats actually a redirect link that allows some people to sneak past their job blocking HCRealms.com so that they're still able to check out Realms while at work.

All donor levels disable ads ... if you're still seeing ads while logged in, let me know where and I'll take care of it, because that's not supposed to happen.

Consider this letting you know; I just figured it kicked in somewhere above silver level.

I see some text links in the footer. Could it be those?

The text links in the footer don't go through the RealmWorx ad server (but I have hidden those for donors now). I'm not sure why you were seeing those ads.

Actually .... Is your "Silver" from a donation, or is it from the Contributor program? If it's the later, it was probably just set up wrong. I only ask because I the only donation in our system for you is:

Sorry for thread necromancy but I have an SEO question - why is this moreprofits domain visible to Google?

It's very strange to come across it while searching, and wouldn't having two different names for the same site halve your pagerank?

Several times while I was searching today (for some custom dial templates) the moreprofits domain came up several places ahead of hcrealms.com in the results. Surely that can't be good for your optimization, you'll get fewer clickthroughs when the domain is so clearly at odds with the subject matter, won't you?

I often forget about that domain. LOL! It does hurt SEO; but since I'm pretty much #1 for "heroclix"; I figure it's ok to provide an alternate entry point to the site for those at work. Eventually it'll go away and we'll set up a proxy for those people, but I just don't have time right now.

Speaking of ads, what's with the political ads?
A few threads up we have VGA Disciple complaining that a mod complained about his Palin avatar while there are Newsmax Palin ads and anti-Obama ads all over HCrealms.

All the ads are smart nowadays; they're targeted to the person's surfing habits and the context of the site.
